B's Ace Hardware — Local services in Eagle

Been a ACE Hardware customer for most of my life and been going to the Eagle location for at least 6 years. While its not the cheapest or best value, I frequented this store often for its convenience. Purchased a ACE branded heavy duty hose less than a year ago. Having gone through cheap hoses before I decided to purchase an upgraded heavy duty version with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Approximately 6-7 months after purchase the hose failed at the location where the rubber and metal meet. It was obviously a manufacturing defect. I brought it to the store and was told I needed a receipt for the hose. Not sure what a lifetime warranty value is on a ACE branded item if I need to produce a receipt. The young manager came forward and was smug, rolled his eyes at me and essentially had the attitude that he could care less. When asked for the owners contact information in order to describe my complaint, I was told they ran out of business cards. He refused to give me an email address or anything. Well I will drive the extra mile or two to go to the other stores that will stand by...

Terrible business, unethical owner and they do not stand behind their products. I bought a chainsaw here and it was broken from the first pull. Never once ran correctly. Brought it back within 24 hours, after i was never able to get it started. The owner blamed me for their faulty product, wouldn't return it or exchange it. When the manufacturer agreed to cover it under warranty despite the owners decision to not cover it, it sat on their shelf for anothe 2 months with no work performed on it. Three months after purchase, and having never seen the saw run, they still had my saw and my money.

I filed a dispute with my credit card company for fraud and it was immediately approved with no dispute. I wouldn't touch this business with a 10 foot pole. I'd love to support local over the big box, but you make that impossible. If you need a quick purchase like a screw or a bolt, maybe, but id never trust this store with a...

Pretty disappointed. I would rather support local small businesses even if its a little more expensive, but they made it really hard. Ace hardwares website says they price match for identical instock at other stores. I found an identical box of chlorine for $55 cheaper instock at a local retailer, when I asked about price matching they said they wouldn't do it.

"OK, we'll I need to get some hose so I will go get that. " I followed the employee to the back where the hose rolls are. I found the hose size I needed and needed 20ft of it. They had 18, I found an adapter to a different size. I asked them if I bought the adapter, would they match the price of the smaller price 50 cent per foot cheaper. Again I was told no. Terrible service. I won't be back.
