I'm not a fan of giving negative reviews, but I am heartbroken about my wedding set.
This is a three ring set, welded together. Two years ago I had Mr. Hamilton size down, clean and reset a few prongs on the set. It cost a couple hundred dollars, wasn't the prettiest job and it made the bottom of the bands thinner, but I accepted it. This, I acknowledge, is my error.
While picking up a watch just before Mother's Day weekend, that had taken a very long time to have repaired, I asked if he could clean and check the settings of my ring. He did clean it on the spot, at no charge, and said everything looked tight. As I drove away, I noticed a small diamond was missing. I immediately returned and asked if it was possibly in the cleaning machine. It wasn't. In good faith, maybe the stone was gone before the cleaning, but was clogged and I didn't notice it before...
I paid $65 for him to reset a new tiny diamond where it was missing. When I picked it up two days later, he mentioned that the bottom of the bands were thin and I reminded him that he had sized it down for me two years ago at this same part of the ring. I feel that this was their workmanship.
Two days later, my ring felt odd on my finger, and I looked down and discovered that one of rings had disconnected from the set, and the diamond that had been replaced was missing again. I was out of town, but called and left a message that I wanted to discuss the ring. I did not get a return call.
Yesterday, the other side of the set disconnected. I returned to Hamilton's. I explained the situation and asked him to price the repair. He quoted $350 to cut and replace half shank on both the smaller sides, and join the set back together. He said he wouldn't charge to reset the smaller diamond.
I have lost faith in this store, so I had another reputable jeweler look at the set and price out the repair. She priced it at $340 to do the same half shank and join the set together again, but this price included me buying a new small diamond to be reset in the ring. $10 less than Mr. Hamilton's quote, who was supposed to do the small diamond at no charge.
Mr. Hamilton is a nice man and I felt he was trustworthy. But, I am so disppointed that I will not be returning. I would not recommend having your jewlery...
Read moreDO NOT USE THIS STORE FOR THE REPAIR OF JEWELRY. I had 2 bracelets repaired. I was quoted $70.00 for both. When I picked up the bracelets he was going to charge me $100. He went back to original quote once I made it known he quoted me $70. Not even 2 months later the bracelet that he charged me $30 to fix just slipped right off my arm. It was again broken in the place that was repaired. So I took it back to him. He did not quote me a price, and I foolishly thought it would be $30 again. Nope, he charged me $65 to repair a repair he already repaired. HE DOES NOT EVEN HONOR ANY WORK THAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE. Nope,...
Read moreI've been bringing my jewelry here for decades for repairs. Very trustworthy and great workmanship. I wouldn't trust my jewelry with anyone else. Also great deals on their jewelry. They don't try to rip you off. I was looking for a pair of pearl earrings to match a distinctive pearl necklace I bought my wife. He found the perfect pair and she loved them. Nobody else went out of their way to help. He even sold them for the price he paid for them. Would recommend to anyone looking for...
