This was an unexpected find! Riding through on motorcycles and the guys wanted to check out a few distilleries in the area. I'm more of a bourbon drinker and am generally not too big of a fan of the "moonshine" type distilleries that just add sweetened flavors to cheap spirits and bottle it and price it like it is something special (e.g. Ole Smoky).

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! This is not cheaply made or marketed products. This place makes flavored liqueurs and spirits with a real emphasis on quality. The bearded gentlemen (Santa) was knowledgeable, fun and engaging. The owner(s) obviously know their stuff and I would expect this place will do very well and grow in time as it establishes a solid reputation.

I ended up buying the Cranberry and Wild Cherry liqueurs. So damn good.

My wife and I come to House of Applejay regularly, and it’s truly a unique experience every time. This family-run distillery, owned by a wonderful mother-daughter duo from Germany, brings an authentic charm to East Ellijay. They are always a joy to interact with, sharing stories of international travel and local happenings that make each visit even more special.

The cocktails here are outstanding—our favorites include the Applejay Mule, made with their signature Applejay liqueur and blood orange ginger beer, and their classic twist on a gin and tonic featuring their Mt Wildcat Old-Style Juniper Liqueur. The flavors are so crisp and refreshing, you can really taste the craftsmanship in each sip.
