As an outsider looking in I used to work the Rent to Own Industry back in the mid 80's - Liberty TV & Stereo in Killeen Texas after getting out of Military Service in 84 -(Delivery & Setup) guy .. Remco Rentals (Account Mgr & Assistant Store Mgr) .. Rent a Center in Illinois (Account Mgr) .. Colortyme Rentals in Southern Chicago Suburbs.
All these Rent to Own Stores work on Demographic's and are usually situated in Lower Income towns & areas .. Yes you are paying Double/Triple the price of an item than you would if you used a credit card or payed cash for it and this is how the Business model is setup so the store generates PROFIT.
Back when I worked at these places EVERYBODY had a Professional look about them (Polo shirts/Dockers) to observe the guys here who do the delivery of goods I was like WTH kinda backwoods stuff is going on here 👀 the way they were dressed in Non-Professional attire doing Deliveries/Collections at customers homes 😯
Yes the Account Mgr's call the EXACT DAY your account is due .. that is Policy and YOU SIGNED THAT AGREEMENT to allow them to contact you in reference to "When your paying the bill owed" period .. you make a commitment to pay on this date but when you don't that places the companies collections to sales ratio outta whack and potential bonus $$ can be affected by that month to month.
The Bottom line is this in a nutshell - You came in and picked what items you want and SIGNED A LEGAL DOCUMENT saying you will make weekly/monthly payments on time OR they have the LEGAL RIGHT TO REPOSSESS SAID ITEMS and Re-Rent them for more Profit 🤔.
Repo guys are quick to snatch that Hellcat/Challenger/Mustang when...
Read moreHad a washer and dryer delivered the other day, my husband was home for the delivery, our complaint is mostly on how they handled our merchandise. They ripped it out of their truck and carelessly pulled it down through the yard and up into the house. They hooked the washer up fine, no real complaints with it. The dryer however they didn't bother to put the leveling legs on which would have brought the dryer up to the height it is needed to be to reach the vent. They also had no vent hose for it (nor were we ever told we would need one) so were unable to hook it up for us. Other than not handling things in a careful and professional manner (after all we are paying for these machines and paying them) they were friendly and...
Read moreI personally have been dealing with Mt Pleasant RAC for years, treating myself to new furniture one item at a time as I pay off an item. My house is nicely furnished and I was able to do so in a way that fit into my budget. Everyone at this RAC has always been very nice and helpful!!! I have never had a negative experience with anyone there ever. The store is clean and nicely organized! I had lived out of state for a time and visited other RAC stores that did not even compare in this regard (Employees was nice and helpful however)…..They are always very professional when delivering, and arrive in time frame agreed upon. Keep up the good...
