Hı there My car's tire pressure light was on, I went to Mavis and they said the two rear sensors needed to be replaced. I said okay, they replaced it, and I paid $230. in the morning I started the car the light was on again I went a week later they looked and said another sensor needed to be changed they wanted 90 dollars. To tell you the truth I wouldn’t have had it done if I was going to pay that much. Anyway I paid another 90 dollars and 3 sensors were changed. I started the car again in the morning the light is on again. I paid a total of 320 dollars the problem persists. Thereupon I asked a friend who knows these things he said there is no chance that all 3 sensors are faulty he said check the air pressure of the spare tire the same day I went in the evening the air pressure of the spare tire was 11 I filled the air and the light went out I have been using it for a week no problem. The air pressure of the other tires was between 30-32 I changed them to 33 as well. I should have checked the tire air pressure before changing the sensors I am not paying that money money is not easy to earn.

I went to Mavis Discount Tire on July 17, 2025, for a routine oil change and windshield wiper replacement. While there, they told me I needed new brakes, claiming my rear brakes were 90% worn and the front were 50% worn. This didn’t make sense to me because I had all my brakes replaced in June 2024. So I took my car to my regular mechanic a week later on July 24 for a second opinion. They measured my rear brakes at 5mm and my front brakes at 6mm, saying I had at least 10,000–15,000 miles before I’d need to replace anything. This felt like a clear attempt by Mavis to upsell me on a service I did not need. Either they were being dishonest, or completely careless with their inspection. Either way, it's unacceptable—especially when it comes to safety-related components like brakes. I won’t be returning, and I encourage others to get a second opinion before agreeing to any major service here.

Thanks for smashing the oil filter during install. Leaking oil and to think I drove to Ohio with the filter that way. Now I’m looking at thousands $$$ worth of repairs. Avoid this place for a “quick” fix.

This is the second time I’ve had a bad experience with Jim from the East Windsor NJ store. First was when I was charged thousands of dollars to replace parts that didn’t even solve my cars problem. Today, I brought my car in for a 10am appointment to change oil, and two hours later, my car was still sitting in the parking area. A customer who walked in without an appointment to change a flat tire was entertained before me, and their vehicle even finished while mine was still parked. Thank goodness a mechanic named Matt asked me if I was already being helped and I told him that I’ve been waiting for two hours already. Right away, he apologized and took my car from the parking into the shop and started working on the oil change. When everything was done, Matt placed the plastic pouch containing my cars paperwork on the front desk for Jim to process. For some reason Jim was ignoring the pouch and kept entertaining all other customers instead of finishing mine. Twenty minutes later, Matt asked me why I was still there and I told him that Jim seemed like he was ignoring my paperwork. Sadly, when Jim finally processed the documents, he didn’t even offer an apology. I think Jim is clearly mismanaging the shop. Matt does a better job because I saw how he spoke so professionally with the other customers in the store and was very helpful as well. I do hope management does something about this. I have not had this much disappointment when someone else was at...

There seems to be a slight disconnect between the online/physical shop.

When I purchased my tires I booked an 08:00AM appointment, the shop said they couldn't accommodate that and pushed it back to 10AM.

Per the website, they charge Installation $48.00 Balancing $79.96

and

Taxes TBD State Fees TBD

So I expected Tax and tire disposal. They added: $6 shop fee and $27.96 to replace 4 Schrader valves (less than $1 part, that takes less than a minute to replace. BTW they have to remove it anyway to deflate the tire to unmount it.) So they are already charging almost $130 to mount and balance, and they add in an extra $33.96. It took approximately and hour and 15 minutes to mount and balance 4 tires.

In fairness they did quote the increased price when they took my keys and I was told it was for the "TPMS Valves", I assumed that was the entire valve stem, not the tiny Schrader inside. They said that they could not print out a copy of the invoice prior to payment.

So all in all, they did the job, I believe some of the fault is from the website, and some is from the shop itself. I'd prefer to have the grand total in advance online prior to the job, this way I can shop online and if one shop has the extras included in the install, that may sway my decision. And if you can book a time online, they should...

I came here yesterday for my routine oil change. I’ve been coming here for them since 2019. When I called to schedule the appointment, I told Alex I hear scraping noises when turning/braking & asked upon service if they can check out my brakes & a TPMS light that wouldn’t go off. She said no problem. After service, when they said I was all set to go and I paid the balance for the oil change, I asked about my brakes. I was told “your brakes should be fine because the guys left no notes”. I told her just because they didn’t leave a note, doesn’t mean they checked them. She ensured they were fine repeatedly. “You’re all good to go” as she kept dismissing me to go. I’m standing at the desk like how are they fine when I drive the car, everyday & I’m telling you they weren’t checked because I’m 98% sure I needed brake pads & potentially rotors. Upon making the appointment I asked specifically for them to check out the grinding/metal to metal scraping noise, and with your routine oil changes isn’t this checked anyway? I guess not @ mavis. Because i came to a mechanic closer to my house and sure shit, I needed front brake pads and rotors and they’re doing it for a hell of a lot cheaper than...
