The good:
BigY has some vegan processed options (not as much as Whole Foods markets / Amazon), increased number of Beyond Meat options, decent whole foods (fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds - but then again, much cheaper ordering on Amazon in higher quantities), their own store brand "full circle" (FC) chocolate chips are vegan (no dairy milk in them!), FC chocolate chip cookies are also vegan (no dairy, no eggs!); re. eggs, they sell "just eggs" ("just" as in "justice", no animal abuse) which is egg-free - which tastes amazingly like eggs and even better, also much lighter to eat and no risk of salmonella.
Their staff is quite helpful and friendly, though relatively unknowledgeable when it comes to vegan food products or even knowing what the difference is between vegan and vegetarian.
The bad:
Due to BigY still selling animal products, especially corpse pieces from animals and processed products from those, it smells badly in there, of course much more noticeable the closer you get to those sections of the store (only an issue for plants-only eaters), especially the fish section's... but that goes with the territory selling animal products... overall though it doesn't smell as bad as at Whole Foods.
Even though their staff is friendly, they don't ask out of their own if there is anything they can help with - that is a huge minus in customer satisfaction (Walmart has that in fact as corporate policy and enforces that also... somewhat but not really).
Cash registers... only one or two are open at any given time.
Conclusion:
BigY needs way more vegan product options and have those clearly marked at sections - that's why people like me still shop mostly at Whole Foods and order via Amazon Prime Now.
But it's always nice to shop at this BigY even with it's very limited selection (and often not being in stock) of vegan products, but the store not being so overcrowded like Whole Foods is nice, and their staff is...
Read morePhoned in to ask what time Customer service desk is open until. Was told open until 8pm. I rushed down there after work and was there 10 mins early 7:50 and its closed. I Asked someome if they could help me and they said no. The emoloyees where just standing around doing nothing but couldnt help me even though i was early. I asked for a manager and she gave me attitude. Sebastian the manager came over and said he couldnt help me. He looked real busy stairing out the window while his employees doing nothing. He tells me he can't do anything and gives me attitude. I told him i rushed down and its not even 8pm and he still wouldnt get someone to help me. He than just walked away and stared back out the windsow. Why would you tell people and have hours posted if you close early and just want to leave. Unacceptable and couldnt beleive they would rather just stand around and talk than to help a customer. I am shocked on how the manager runs this store. I was a manager for many stores and i would stay late or do whats needed to help a customer that rushed down before closing hours. I would never tell them no and do nothing infront of them. Very shocked how...
Read moreWe have often shopped at the BigY in Danielson, CT. That store always had bags of ready-to-go $5.00 chicken nuggets even ones for $2.50 half the cost and half the quantity of the $5.00 bag. This store didn't have any when we came in and wouldn't make any upon request like the Danielson store always would for us if asked. They didn't have a big soup variety what they did have was almost empty and not much to get to enjoy no broth in the ones they did have. No spoons napkins etc out and ready to go. The pizza counter had some fresh slices big that looked yummy so we got each a slice of 1 pepperoni and 1 cheese both were large and tasted ok kind of dry and crunchy pizza crust. Prices were shocking thought it would be not that much still ended up spending more than...
