I can get AT LEAST twice as many groceries here for the same price as one Walmart haul. They have a great variety, seasonal items, special buys on big name brand items, and if you have a problem with an item you buy there, they will give you a refund PLUS replace the item. Aldi originated in Germany and they operate a little differently than other grocery stores (EX: rent a grocery cart for 25¢....but you get your quarter back when you return your cart, bag your own groceries, you have to purchase bags for a few cents or bring your own) but these practices save the store money which in return, keeps prices low for their customers. If you've never been to Aldi's give it a try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The only downsides to this store are that it's usually pretty busy and they don't have many cashiers. However, the less cashiers they have to pay the more money you save. I'd rather stand in line a bit longer knowing those few extra minutes are saving me more than just a few dollars. If your on a budget or simply want more bang for your buck, Aldi's is the...
Read moreI wear my heart on my sleeve and on that heart on my sleeve it doesn’t say “mom” it says “Aldi’s.” The only thing previously holding me back from making this my primary grocer was that I couldn’t figure out the complicated coin/cart system, but now that they do online pickup that stressor is irrelevant to my lived experience at Aldi’s.
Pro tip: if you go to an Aldi’s in the Bavarian Alps and do not know a German word beyond “schnitzel,” the cashiers and customers will collectively laugh at you in a German accent because you are a dumb, American tourist. This is my lived experience as a sojourner in Bavaria. However, the German chocolate is delectable, if you are willing to bear the shame of public...
Read moreI was born and raised in Germany. I came to the States in 2008, and when I discovered that the U.S. has an ALDI chain, I was so excited. The company is a German based business but unfortunately over the years you carry less and less german based foods. I don't know if that is an overall issue, but definitely here in Eau Claire Wisconsin it is. I miss home, so getting a certain treat or food made me feel better. Yes, I could order online, but ALDI is a peace of home for me, and it makes me feel better. I just wish you guys would get German foods and sweets more often instead of getting it mainly only for different holidays. I love you, ALDI, but I feel a little bit let down. With warm regards Your...
