So, my cousin and I were having a girls day in the mall today. Seeing this store, we decided to walk through and check it out, as we had not seen it before, and I have been interested in buying an area rug lately. When we entered, the older blonde woman at the front desk asked us what we were looking for, and when she found out we were just going to walk through she informed us(in no pleasant way) that we cannot just walk through, we have to have something specific we're looking for, and that "We have rules here." What these "rules" are, we weren't told. I told her I'd look for a rug, and she let us go. I assume this was profiling, and she was thinking that we were teenagers going to cause trouble. This, unfortunately, is not the case, as 1.) Neither of us are teenagers (I am 20. My cousin is 12) and 2.) Neither of us had any interest in climbing on things or causing trouble, and were being quiet and polite when we came in. When we left, she asked us if we had "found the cookies". No, we didn't find any cookies because you greeted us by telling us we're not welcome. The 'cookies' would've been a good way to welcome people into your store, however they're not so much good after you've already turned us off to ever buying something from your store or coming back. I work in retail and this is not how you treat customers, ever, even if you do think they might cause trouble. I'm 20 years old and I know that. Please learn customer service, or find a job you actually enjoy, but stop treating people like this, or all your potential customers, like us, will never come back. P.S The other employees were pleasant. We were half expecting to get confronted and kicked out, since our presence was apparently violating some untold "Rules" but we were not. I would be very interested to know what these "Rules" were. Was it my baseball cap? The crocs we were wearing? Did we not look rich enough? Or was it our age? Thanks. And thank you to all the other employees who were kind to us. To the woman at the desk, if you're going through a hard time, I genuinely hope it gets better and that you do well. But please be...
Read moreMy name , address and email are listed with Hom furniture as that is where the rug was, and where we paid for the rug - twice. Our name and address came up right away when we gave our information to the two at the front desk because we purchased many items for our home from your store quite a few years back. We got a email thanking us for our purchase and a text asking for this review, so I’m pretty sure you can find us.
Everyone I talk to CAN’T believe a store policy that Isn’t posted Holds your purchase hostage until 7 days after the check was written. For goodness sakes- we are repeat customers, it was under )$105 and if that isn’t enough, have a no check policy. 🤦♀️
The experience started pleasantly -Julie was working in another department but offered to help me in rugs. She was delightful. She went out of her way to make sure that all of my questions were answered.
I went to the front desk to pay while she found help wrapping the rug, the front desk took my check, ran it thru the machine, handed me the cancelled check and THEN told me that I couldn’t leave with my rug because they have an unposted check policy of 7!days before merchandise leaves the store! They had the audacity of blaming Julie, the one wrapping up the rug, even though two of them saw my check and processed it and knew I was planning on leaving with it. When I questioned them they blamed Julie who was more mature aged like me so I definitely felt age discrimination and then REALLY got upset. The manager heard all of this and later told my husband his staff handled it appropriately. Wrong! I am SO not a “ Karen” but I WILL stand up For others when I see a need and stand up for myself when I am being told that “it’s not My fault” rather than trying to help everyone feel taken care of. HOM is no longer my go- to store!
July 2024 they STILL have not reached out to make this right. Horrible...
Read moreMy husband and I just moved down to Eau Claire and we were in desperate need of a couch. We came to this furniture store and walked around until we found our dream couch. Unfortunately we didn’t purchase it because we needed something a little more simple. Michelle saw us browsing and came over; her friendly personality made it easy to connect with her. She wasn’t pushy. She saw us looking at our dream couch and walked us over all of the options so we could make it happen. Although we declined that specific couch she showed us around and we found something we liked (for now) . Again, throughout the whole ordeal she was never pushy. I hate shopping sometimes because of how PUSHY sales people can be. As someone who’s worked multiple sale jobs (commission based and none commission based) stores always have a number to hit .. so sales people need to be pushy. Which is annoying to the people who are shopping.
Anyways, that was not what happened here . No one was pushy.
If you’re looking for some new furniture, definitely come here .
I had the pleasure of working with Michelle and will continue to try to work with her on all My furniture needs. The couch we picked ended up being backordered which was kinda annoying but Michelle literally went above and beyond to find the closest days so we wouldn’t be waiting months .. like I said We needed a couch .. cant wait .
She knows what she’s doing!! And is a great asset to the store!
I can’t really say much about how the couch will hold up, or review the furniture.YET. But if the couch is as good as the service, I know we won’t be...
