Ok, so I am a 50 year old man, and I found a cool pair of boots for my wife Christmas present, marked down like 50%. Got in line to checkout. There were two ladies ahead of me in line.
The first woman's purchase took forever, as if they were planning the aeronautics for a space shuttle flight.
The second lady presented a pair of fuzzy socks, with a coupon. When the young lady behind the register began to explain that the coupon wasn't valid, the lady got very upset. It was the third thing she'd tried to buy, and the coupon didn't cover anything.
She had a point: Penneys coupons often have more exclusions than inclusions. And the exlusions are written in a font size appropriate for ants.
(Of course, since this is in Wisconsin, the woman apologized profusely, woven in with her tantrum, as she stormed off in a huff.)
When it was my turn, I expected trouble. But this was a very cool pair of boots. As it turned out, the young lady was courteous, quick and knowledgeable. I saved $40. I could sense her relief oozing from every pore. And I got my wife a very cool pair of boots for Christmas. Merry Chrismas is indeed available at this...
Read moreOn tuesday night at 7:30 I came into the JC Penney's Oakwood Mall store in Eau Claire with my college aged son so he could buy a suit. He is graduating in May and is interviewing in Minneapolis for various jobs. My son recently had shoulder surgery, so we knew we had to be gentle with him trying on shirts and suit coats.
I asked the clerk, Stephen if he could help us. He was so polite. He measured my son, gave advice on a good quality suit and helped him all along the way, being careful with that sore shoulder and arm. I was so impressed on how well he took care of us and our needs that night. He never once made us feel like we were taking up his valuable time. I asked how long he was an employee of the store and he said around nine years. What a gem you have in Stephen.
My son just opened a charge card at Penneys because he likes the quality of the clothes, the good way they fit him, the prices and discounts are good and the sales people always help him. ,
Thank you...
Read moreI took my son school shopping. We had $275 to spend. We took a quick break at 7:30 to get a bite to eat and in-between there and Penny's I lost $100 bill. :(. We found some fantastic deals at the department store and oop....I was $21 short. I was just sick. The JCP clerk was amazing. She smiled at my son and voided it out. She rang up each shirt he wanted in the order of pleasure. He got all but 1. She said she'd pray for us to find it in our other receipts. We tried to back track but never found the $100 bill. On our way home, my son said "Mama I don't need those other shirts at Rue (we went back to ask them to hold til tomorrow). That nice lady Angie helped me get the ones I really wanted.". The way that clerk (Angie) handled me not having the money was amazing. I learned a lot today. Thank you Angie. I intend to call your mgr tomorrow and share that experience. It was closing time and we'd all had a long day. That was fantastic customer...
