If you are darker than a paper bag, you will get followed and given dirty looks doesn't matter if you are Latino or not. Deleted my initial review because I need more time to realize what happened yesterday. It's been a while since I experienced such strange and nasty energy from employees in such short amount of a time. Decided to walk in after checking out a new salon that is being built next door. Walked directly into produce and surprised at the wide variety of fruits and vegetables. In the back was an older man. He stayed in the back doing what ever he was working on until he noticed me. Then he kind of quickly approached me as if he was going to greet me but he just stared at me instead of saying something. He passes me, and stands a few aisles from me in between me and the door and kept staring. I have worked customer service and retail before so I know this protocol. I assure you I am not that type of person. I do not look rough, I don't have on a filthy bonnet or hoodie nor ski mask. So I walk out of produce not really mad or anything, because he could have just been a weirdo. I head towards the register looking at the fridges for water or something like that when I notice one of the ladies huddled gossiping at the register. I had just passed by, when one of them turned around to peek around the corner at me while I was looking at the bakery items nearby. AGAIN, didn't say a word. She was an older heavy set lady and when I walk up to her thinking she was going to say something, she just gives me the dirtiest look up and down so I grab a sweet tea take it to the counter and check out in complete silence.
I am very fluent in Spanish and if these women wanted to greet me, or something, ANYTHING. I would have spoken to them politely. Instead, nasty looks, and being followed. Disappointed but not surprised. Not to mention, getting out of this parking lot anytime of day is a straight up nightmare.
Wish people would prioritizes basic customer service, throw away prejudices, and STOP gate keeping jobs other people could do better. We are all the same on the inside. Do better.
There is a Publix down the street on Hoffner, and a Super Target right up the road...
Read moreHave been waiting for this store to open for awhile now. I was hoping for a more convenient grocery store in my location. Today it opened and I took a walk around the store. Inventory is staged and faced beautifully. There are still some items not priced and other items that haven’t arrived yet. The deli area was not open yet, but it’s great that they have a little seating area for enjoying fresh made choices. Prices looked to be higher than I had hoped for and the bulk of the store seemed stocked for more of the Latino / Spanish demographic. I think that is great if you’re looking for more ethnic flavors and options. I definitely will enjoy some of the spice options available.
The produce section looked terrific!! The meat section was loaded with amazing options that you don’t see everywhere else. I’ll probably go from time to time for those “special” options, but overall I wasn’t as impressed as I hoped to be. Give it a try for yourself and I’m sure you will find something that...
Read moreFor me, this was not much of a shopping experience. I was in the area with time to kill and decided to take a look. They did have a good selection of merchandise and I especially liked the produce section. Prices are a bit high for my liking, but they had a lot of items that I don't normally see in other stores. In addition to the grocery section at the deli, they have a selection of hot foods available. This was not my typical, but some of it actually looked really good. I saw a few cashiers upfront, who were sitting with nothing to do. There was one gentleman walking through the store, who I believe was taking an inventory and there were people working in the meat, seafood and deli departments. For a neighborhood market it's not a bad choice. It's well situated in a strip mall with...
