Mecatos Bakery & Café — Restaurant in Edgewood

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic spot, and I must say it was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! From the moment I walked in until the very end, the service was exceptional, making it clear that this will be my new go-to spot for coffee and delectable treats.

I opted for the avocado toast, and it was an absolute delight. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, leaving me eager to try more from their menu. Paired with an iced latte featuring hazelnut and French vanilla, the combination was nothing short of WOW WOW WOW! The unique blend of flavors in the latte added an extra layer of indulgence to my meal.

The atmosphere inside was delightful, creating a warm and inviting space to enjoy my meal. Additionally, the outdoor seating offered a great alternative for those who prefer to bask in the fresh air while savoring their treats.

Overall, my experience at this establishment was top-notch. The billboard on Orange advertised a happy hour from 4p-8p. We Googled it and saw that it was also advertised there. That is what brought us in. First impression, clean and welcoming. We were told the advertised happy hour had ended a month ago. We then proceeded to look at pastries on offer. A Spanish speaking couple came in line behind us. Instead of asking if we were ready to order, she started talking with them and took their order and checked them out. A little aggravating. After five minutes or so, Thomas, another server, realized what had happened and came and took our order. Big thanks to him. He was friendly, quick and efficient. He seems versed in customer service. The inside of the café is very nice, and the staff are pleasant and welcoming. However, I was under the impression that all Mecatos locations follow the same standard of food quality, and that doesn’t seem to be the case at this location. I ordered a few cheese empanadas and left disappointed. I understand that many businesses are navigating difficult economic times, but that should not come at the expense of product quality or customer experience. I always LOVE the cheese empanadas from Mecatos. It was my first time stopping at this location to find the empanadas were more than half empty, with barely any cheese inside. It genuinely felt as though the portion was reduced to save on cost, but that’s not something a customer should have to absorb. I essentially paid for air. I will not be purchasing from this...
