Sovereign Coffee Trenton — Restaurant in Edinburg

I recently bought a coffee at Sovereign Coffee on Trenton and was extremely disappointed with what I received (see attached photo). I asked for light ice and ended up with a cup that was noticeably unfilled. This is their smallest size — I believe it’s 16oz — but regardless of the exact size, if the amount of coffee they prepare for one order isn’t enough to fill the cup, then they should be using smaller cups.

I request light ice because I don’t like watered-down coffee. If this business sees that as a way for customers to get “more coffee,” then that’s simply the cost of doing business, just like every other coffee shop. The industry standard is to fill the cup to the top, regardless of ice amount.

This was a $7 coffee. For that price, I expect a full drink, not a cup with inches of empty space. It’s ridiculous and disappointing that a specialty coffee shop can’t uphold such a basic expectation. I won’t be returning unless they fix this practice.

Edit: I did leave it as is. Less ice does not change the drink. There is no confusion here. If my only option for this iced coffee is a 16oz cup I expect to get a full cup of coffee if your menu does not have flexibility. Went for the first time today. Great, nicely decorated space and vibe. Comfortable to study or hang out, wish they had more individual tables. Friendly service, but maybe a lil too chill, there is no urgency. That being said, my order did not take too long to be made. If you dine in, you "open up a tab" and pay at the end in the 'bar area'. Now, I do have to preface by saying my ice latte did taste ok. But, I was thrown back that all espresso shots are premade sitting on top of the espresso machine. So when my drink was made, they got an espresso shot from the top of the espresso machine. Every coffee shop I have been to makes the espresso shots at the time you place the order, even the busiest of the most commercialized coffee shops. When I was there, the place was 1/4 full. In my college days, I worked in a coffee shop for a lovely, coffee-knowledgeable couple so I just cannot wrap my mind around this method. Nice place, very roomy, plenty of seating. Coffee was decent, had an iced Mexican vanilla latte. As for the service I feel it could have been better, more welcoming, barista asked if I’d like a coffee run down, pretty much said one menu are “favorite drinks” other menu is other options if I’d like something customizable. Some more information would have been welcomed like if the syrups are house made etc I think that’s something informative to include. I believe customer service is extra important when owning a small business, and I’m all about supporting local small businesses! Sat down enjoyed the coffee for a bit and checked out the atmosphere, as soon as I got up and was walking out I got flagged down by the same barista who charged me asking if I had paid. So that was a little disappointing, I’d understand more if it was busy, but it didn’t seem to busy at the time and there were several baristas.
