I went in to have my engagement ring sized. It’s an antique ring with hand cut diamonds on either side of the center hand cut diamond. I asked if taking it from an 8 to a 6.5 would affect the side stones but was assured it would be fine and exclusive jewelers came highly recommended so I trusted their opinion. My first interaction was honestly a great one. When I went to pick up my ring the following day one of the side stones was missing, and I was told to come back in a few days. When I went back in the hand cut diamond had been replaced with a machine cut stone. The jeweler I had left it with stayed behind the partition staring at me while another employee charged me for having it sized. Nothing was said about the replacement stone. I had to take it to another jeweler to confirm it was a diamond. I’m not a person who complains ever, in fact I went back and forth over leaving this review because accidents happen and I’m sure the jeweler felt badly, but I’ve worked in the service industry and if I had screwed something up I would have the decency to apologize and I would have waived the sizing fee. The value of antique rings is in their wholeness, and mine was no longer all original. Today another side stone fell out and is lost. The ring was sound before sizing and I am kicking myself for not simply getting a ring guard. I bought a custom engagement ring from Exclusive Jewelers for my now fiancée and it was a really great experience. I shopped around for something similar to a vintage engagement ring my fiancée hinted at on Pinterest for about two months and found nothing similar. I showed the picture to Mike and Dennis and they had a 3D mold made that looked exactly similar (and this ring was highly detailed) in about a week for me to look at and the gold setting shortly after I gave the okay. I already had the diamond so they set it and did an engraving in the same day. They helped out a lot by walking me through the process and Mike would always call me to keep me in the loop with progress. After I proposed, my fiancée went to the shop by herself to get it re-sized and re-engraved which Dennis did in about half an hour. She was freaking out because her friends told her it took them about a week. The price they gave me was also extremely fair for the labor and material that went into the ring. This place is horrible. Brought in a bracelet with all the pieces to it just needed it put back together. Was told it was costume jewelry and felt stupid dropping it off to get it fixed (it was a friendship bracelet from my best friend). Told me it would cost $45 to fix. $45!!! Which is more than double what I paid for the bracelet. Went to pick it up and was told they never had my order on file and could not find it in the system. Then weeks later they proceeded to call me multiple times. Left horrible messages. Won’t stop calling me. I’m sorry but you can eat your 5 seconds it took to put a hinge back on a bracelet.
