Parkway Bowl — Local services in El Cajon

My Husband and I have been coming to Parkway Bowl for the past 4 years, and we've never had an experience like we did today. We come several times a month to play pool, and one our favorite things to do is play music on the "jukebox". We're always courteous and select 5-7 songs (just depending on how long we'll be there). We also play a wide variety of music (old school, hip hop, rock, pop and soul). Today, the the attendant working behind the desk shouted out something which I could not hear. I said, Excuse me sir I did not hear you, can you repeat that", and he said nothing. I asked him again, can you repeat that, and he said, "We don't play music on the jukebox on Friday, only on my speaker. I accept three requests per customer, as WE like to have it quiet in HERE. His attitude was very aggressive and unfriendly, and my husband and I have been there many Fridays, and I've never heard of this rule. It was extremely off-putting and made me feel very uncomfortable as we very much got the vibe that he was not interested in listening to "our-kind" of music. I went and spoke to the manager who, was kind and respectful, and she confirmed that this was INACCURATE and no such rule existed on a Friday! That further upset us, so we decided to end our pool game. She was nice enough to comp our game (which we were only there maybe 4 minutes), and I did see her speaking to the employee, but he had an attitude and rolled his eyes the entire time. It's been years since I've been racially profiled, but I know for a fact that's what I experienced. This has been extremely disheartening for several reasons. ADA? BE AWARE THEY DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES! I will like to report an injustice against my person,and condition. It was Saturday, March 26th,2022,around 2pm, I arrived with my family to have and enjoy the day, we asked the worker at Boardwalk Parkway Bowl, that if he could charge us for a game instead that by the hour,because I would like to play with my family like I have done before, he responded " He was sorry, but it was by the hour only" ,So we asked him to give us 2 lanes instead of 1 because we were 7 (including me). He said he couldn't do anything either. My husband asked him if we could use the room where it is accessible for me to play, and he refused by saying " that room is for parties only". (Attached picture of room empty where I could have played). I asked him to call his manager, surprisely no manager just the supervisor. I talked to the "supervisor " and explained the situation,his answer back was "What you want me to do? In a very rude manner,I told him "Well you are the supervisor, how can you help me?" ,I told him" so you are telling me I can't play"he said he couldn't do anything about it, and send us to a line that was not accessible at all. We came here to shoot pool on a double date last night for Valentine’s Day. We were discriminated against and harassed the entire time we were there by Nathaniel the attendant. He claims my friend and I had alcoholic drinks outside in the parking lot so he refused to sell us any drinks. The supervisor was extremely understanding about the situation and said this isn’t the first time he’s harassed customers. We ended up going into the bar inside of the bowling alley for a couple Trulys but when we came back he came over telling us we weren’t allowed to drink and it was our final warning. We were not intoxicated and if we had drinks outside why would we be buying drinks? He kept coming up and harassing us the entire time we were there, the supervisor told him to leave us alone and didn’t charge us for our time playing. They even checked the trash to see if we threw alcohol cans away and found nothing.

We just wanted to enjoy our kid free night on Valentine’s Day and we weren’t bothering anybody. We just had 2 birthday parties in the private bowling room for our kids and this guy was the same way then. I bring my kids here all the time and I grew up coming here…but now I think I’ll take my business elsewhere because this situation was extremely...
