It is with complete shock that I write this review. I have been a loyal client for many years. I was once even a hair model for teaching at the salon on a Saturday. Since salons were struggling being closed I bought product from Elements of Style to help support them along with the root touch up kits they offered that would benefit employees as well. I could not wait to get an appt and when I did I filled out the questionnaire they sent over honestly. I stated that I am a frontline healthcare nurse who wears full PPE during work and asked if this would be a problem. The scheduler checked for me and stated no and we will see you soon. I had heard there was talk that some of my coworkers were having to cancel their appts because of working around Covid patients. The evening before my appt the owner Paris of Elements of Style left me a voicemail and sent me a text message stating that since I have been around Covid people I would need to reschedule my appt to when I would not be around Covid people for 14 days. I feel discriminated completely by this. I am a RN in an Emergency Room caring for people at this most trying time. I do all possible to remain safe and healthy to prevent exposure to my own family and friends and feel that this salon is discriminating against healthcare workers. There will never be a time that meets the requirements that this salon is asking to meet. Covid is not going anywhere anytime soon. Each and every person out there is "Exposed" to Covid. This is why we wear masks, wash our hands, and use common sense to prevent the spread. Myself and my fellow nurses, doctors, and all hospital staff have the most up to date information on Covid. We also are 100% more protected caring for Covid "people" as Paris the owner called them, then the general public who exit their house at any point in time for groceries or essential needs. There are asymptomatic people and false negative tests. So whether someone is "exposed" to someone POSITIVE, which healthcare workers at this time truly are not, because we are protected, is irrelevant. Nobody knows who has Covid. Elements of Style will no longer be a salon that I recommend. I feel sorry for the staff as this must be out of their hands, and they are losing many clients as a result of the nonsense rules in place at this salon. If you happen to be "Exposed" to people, I would not waste your time attempting to jump through the many hoops at...
Read moreI royally messed up my hair Friday night. I guess its was a combination of stress and a bit of a mid-life crisis moment. I had bought a different brand of dye than I had usually used and it turned my hair completely orange. In desperation I called this salon and they fit me in for a consultation mid-morning Saturday. Consultation went well, price what I figured, maybe a bit less, for a correction, I wish I could remember her name, young girl, long light colored hair with purple. At first the sweet girl couldn't fit me in right away. I was ok with that since this was completely a last minute deal, scheduled me in for Tuesday morning. I wonder if she felt bad for me that when I said Tuesday was ok, that I'd call in to work using that I needed a mental health half-day off, she said she could possibly them for me in today (Saturday)! Yay! She took before pics, and commented what it looked like in the back, I so did not want to see cause I was sure it was worse as the front. This girl was awesome. Even though she was fresh out of internship, she apparently has a natural knack for this career. To her delight I did want to darker, so that made the correction easier. Combined with what I did to myself, and her talent to fix, my hair has this awesome red/copper color that I am sure I will get lots compliments on. And it goes well with my skin tone (I naturally have red-highlights anyway so I can get away with this red). I also got the deep conditioning that will last almost a month. Already AMAZING! And got a head massage by Luke. Omg that was cool, and they do have a service if you want to come in for just that. All in all I am so glad I decided to go there. I was initially wanting to go to West End hair, that's where my kids go. But I am certain it would have cost a lot more, and they would not have been as accommodating as Elements Style was. I scheduled to come back in 6 weeks. And I can't wait to finish the look I want with the gold streaks to go with this awesome color I have now! My stylist saved the day!!! And Elements of Style is so lucky to have this...
Read moreI decided to get a spontaneous haircut today, I needed my pixie to be reshaped and styled because I felt a little raggedy. My stylist was Angi. Sweetest thing ever, I loved talking to her, she was very personable and gave me a thorough consultation, but AFTER my hair was already washed. That small detail is why I am leaving 4 instead of 5 stars. I’m also a licensed professional, so I understand double bookings and how crazy the salon can be. That being said, I think the time management wasn’t very accommodating considering my hair type. Which is a problem I face in many salons and why I usually do my hair myself. I have fine kinky curly hair naturally, and I was uncomfortable with the fact that I was shampooed before the stylist even approached me for a consultation. Now being I was a double booked client, I understand that system to have me preshampooed. But I was a new client. Therefore they had me fill out their extensive hair history form which explained my hair type on it. (I loved how detailed the form was for stylist knowledge purposes) Which now I know the stylist was not given prior to her meeting me. Which I did not expect. I was in the chair for a total of 2 hours and again I have very short hair and the stylist had to spend a good deal of time away from my service, to accommodate another guest. I would have preferred a consult before my shampoo so she could have gauged her time needed for my service to see if she even had the time, to which if not, I would have happily scheduled for another day. My hair turned out beautiful and I’m very happy with how she approached what I was looking for, I just think time management needs to be more accommodating for clients with my hair type...
