Sadly to said the experience my family had in this facility on 2 north and the charge nurse on this floor is horrible. Everytime my dad has to go to the bathroom you would ask one of the cna on the unit and they t would look at you and tell you that's not patient and my dad has to wait until his cna was available. I work in the medical field as well and we are not allowed to say that's not my patient. Cause everyone is your patient including guest because if anything happens to the guests while they are visiting their loved one guess what they becomes your patient cuz you're the first responder until 911 gets there. I left a message to the director of nurse of the facility he or she never responded to me. But I do want to give thanks to the two 3 to 11 shift the young lady and man that did take care of my dad the way your suppose to. This facility need to be review by state again so they can see with their own eyes what the first shift to which it's nothing. The cna are always on the their cellphone. So how are they suppose to be talking care of your love. I can go down a whole list of stuff this facility need to fix. Why will I call that number when no more cares. If the director of nurse cannot reply to his messages then what would you think if I call that number somebody's going to hear me out. You need to start selling your morning stuff to get off their phones and actually start doing their jobs. You also need to tell your staff members they need to learn how to talk to people you never know when somebody from the state is actually coming in just to visit their family. Your second floor staff and charge nurse ain't it for you you need to change or send them back to get re-educated so they could be professionals the way you're stating and your comment. Cuz it doesn't look professional when a patient falls and he has surgery you're not calling the surgeon to let them know that he fell now the loved one calls the doctor's office and tells them hey my dad fell that the nursing home call you they said no we haven't even heard of that. So please tell me where is the professionalism of your nurse my father got discharged yesterday to go home your professionalism of your nurse calls to tell my mother that he's on his way how is he in a way when your social worker is on the phone with me trying to figure out how many steps are they to get into my her house. Instead of your nurse stating to my mother your loved one is going home we sent everything they needed to be sent with him he should be arriving soon thank you I hope he feels better no just picked up the phone to call her and he's on his way home on top of that your charge nurse told my mother that she was going to send some cream that needed to be put on his Surgical leg and guess what that was not given to my dad so please tell me where is the professionalism you need to put your charge nurse on second floor on check and tell her to go back to school and learn the laws of being a nurse. And with that said I will never recommend this...
Read moreMy mother (77 y/o) suffered a severe hip fracture in December 2017 and is currently a rehab patient here. She has been here about 60 days. She was transferred here a few days following her hip surgery at Trinitas Hospital. After a rather disappointing experience at Trinitas Hospital, I was hopeful her experience at Elmora would be different. Her experience at Elmora Hills has exceeded my expectations and has certainly been a great one. Just for reference, I have 20 years of experience in the healthcare field (hospitals & clinics) in NYC both as a healthcare professional and caregiver. I can attest to the quality of care she has received at this facility. In 60 days, I have seen my mom progress from an anxious patient, barely being able to move from bed to chair with assistance to confidently taking herself to the bathroom and getting out of bed with little assistance. Her orthopedic surgeon originally told me before surgery, he was just hopeful she would be able to just transfer from bed to chair comfortably for the first few months due to the severity of the fracture. She has exceeded his expectations and is now beginning to walk with assistance of a walker and slowly regaining her independence in just 2 months. This is certainly due in part to the care she has received from the staff at Elmora. I am so grateful for the care she has received from everyone including the physical therapists, nurses, and nursing assistants. Some of nursing staff have become like family, as I visit my mom daily to spend time with her. The administrative staff have also been very helpful in navigating insurance issues and any other concerns that have come up. The facility itself is visitor friendly (onsite parking), pleasant front desk staff, clean, and very inviting (well lit, decorations, family seating areas). There are also various fun activities available for the patients to participate in as well. I would highly recommend this facility for rehabilitation. I encourage anyone considering Elmora, to take a tour of the facility that is offered and bring your questions in order to make a fully informed decision before sending your...
Read moreI believe that when a person applies for a job such as caring for elder people or incapacitated individuals a quality you must have as a individual is compassion and truly love caring for others. If you do not have the heart to take care for another person then you should not be working in a nursing facility. The men in this location are so much more caring and compassionate then the woman are, I'm not saying that all the woman in this location are not caring but some are not and they are more focused on their cell phones than seeing if patients on the floor are ok or need something. i payed attention to a lot of things because i went almost every day to the facility during my fathers stay at this rehab center. Now on the other hand i did have one male care for my father at times that was an excellent person and i saw how caring and loving he was to the patients and any time he was the one in care of my father i was happy because he goes beyond caring for the patients. I was so grateful when he was the one caring for my father on certain days... His name is Olga he was on the 2nd floor, he has a big heart and i really wish you had more people like him believe me it makes a big difference having a person that shows such compassion and has such a great attitude on doing what he does best, caring for another. I also saw another male which i don't remember his name but he was dressing my father up and he also was kind and caring. As far as the females that were rude, glued to their cell phones and just show how much they hate their job, just remember one day you too will get old and i hope you don't get treated the way you treated others. I believe this facility should have a closer eye on workers and appreciate those that truly make a difference like...
