I have experienced the same matter as KV below this review. 18 months of being lied to basically about everything ...I escalated the matter and reached out to the reporter Ethan Carlson from 7 news and asked if they would like to do a follow up story about how this "hat maker' isn't delivering. Ethan explained to me that he in fact has become friends with the maker and wouldn't feel interested in doing a follow having "Brooke" explain why he is not following through......BUT.......three hours later I get a phone call from "Brooke" saying the hat body "JUST" came into the store. Sure.....I ask "Brooke" if he remembers Ethan and he said he "vaguely remembers the story." This is just one of many instances of this character playing cat and mouse. The frustration has not been about the timeframe anymore, it's the fact that "Brooke" feels he can just blatantly lie and get away with it thinking people are ignorant to such lines of untruth. One more interesting topic in case anyone is considering buying a hat from this clown....He said he was going to write a check and mail it for a refund of the deposit that I sent in late October of 2023...I didn't believe he would do it so I said I will pick it up Monday the 12th, 2025...(this has literally been going on for 18 months now) his reply was that he would be out of town. However, I knew he had an appt set up for that morning and mentioned I thought you had a appt that day.....his retort was "Well in the morning." So, these are just several of the many examples of him lying I could go and on......to conclude however.....I did see the hat that he made and it looked nothing like I had asked him to make. He asked for a photo to which I replied, "I sent you three photos 18 months ago, you should have used them to build the hat off of." You see, he never had any intention of making that hat....why would a person not use the photos sent to them for representation? I'm taking this character to court. I'll make sure to report the outcome to this review in a few short weeks. I hope KV sees this and joins the process. I did reach out to him as trip advisor allows communication between reviewers. One item for also for thought....Brook's response to the entire matter comes to one phrase and its that black takes the longest color to get back...I have hats from many makers across the United States....I have testimony from three that state this is in fact not true. See...
Read moreWhat a find! I haven’t been to every hat shop in Colorado, but this place, owned and operated by Brook, is as good as it gets. My family has a long history with O’Farrell’s, formerly in Durango and in its time, was hands down the best in the business. Brook cut his teeth working for Kevin O’Farrell back in the day. He learned his craft well and is now a master hatter. He’s honest and his prices are very reasonable for the high quality of his hats. He shaped mine while I waited and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I don’t see any reason to go anywhere else for a fine custom hat that will thrill you every time you put it on. This guy is the real deal. I can’t...
Read moreBrooks & co. were a pleasure to work with for my first custom hat. He and his lovely wife answered every question I had, patiently explained how their hats are made, what their process is, and even tweaked and retweaked my hat in store with me until I was completely satisfied.
Brooks is highly knowledgeable, friendly, and won't let you walk out of his shop without being completely thrilled. I only had a loose idea of what I wanted, so he was able to make recommendations for me based on my face shape and what I'd be using my hat for (ranch work). I love my hat and will definitely be coming back for any future...
