This post office constantly holds items that should be brought to the mail room in my neighborhood, under the pretense that there are no large parcel boxes available. Half the time I look in the mail room and most of the large parcel boxes are open, and the delivery woman sticks a form in our box without even bringing the package with her. They often lose packages and letters, or give no notice when a package has been held. More often than not, I get an orange slip a week late (after checking my mail every day) in the mail saying they attempted to deliver a package, and by then the package has already been returned to the sender.
The delivery woman constantly crams items in our mailbox without care and has broken several items in small packages clearly marked "DO NOT BEND". We more often than not get letters for the wrong address, and when we spoke to the delivery woman in person she remarked that we had the same last name, thus the confusion. The letters and bills were for someone named Jason Hartman, who has a different enough name that we should not be getting his mail consistently.
If I could give this post office a zero, I would. They are severely understaffed, and the two staff members I've met seem like they could not care less about the...
Read moreFortunately we have not had any bad experiences and I actually have been pleased with our carrier, phone, and in person services. I only saw the bad reviews because I looked them up for their hours and number. When I saw the one star I was shocked. I have reached them the three times I have called them within a couple rings and the person answering has always been helpful, took the time to find the answer. The last person i spoke with not only answered before hours but was very pleasant and respectful. Our carrier has come to our porch on several occasions over the past 12 years, he has endured our lack of pick up at our box and understandably had to leave us a pickup slip for a box too full and when our daughters boyfriend was in boot camp our carrier learned to identify the mail from him and made certain to put it on top as she consistently waited by the mailbox and the carrier shared the good news a letter arrived. Prior to our 12 years here in Elizabeth with consistent good service we lived in a nearby town/city where the in person experience at the post office was equivalent to their DMV; slow, long, nonpersonable and quite painfully miserable. So to share our experience... it has been quite pleasant and we are happy with...
Read moreAll of my experiences with the usps have been generally good...until we moved to Elizabeth. The people at the counter are rude and snippy. Our mailman seems to deliver or not deliver packages based on how he feels that day. Sometimes he brings them to the porch. Sometimes he hangs them on the mailbox for everyone to see. Sometimes he doesn't deliver at all and claims my mailbox is full. If the mailbox is full, then why would he not bring the package to the porch or carelessly hang it on the box like he does other times? Our mail has been taken to the post office for pick up because our mailbox is "too full". However, when we go to pick it up, not only does the lady at the counter snap at us to pick up our mail more often, when I get home and put the mail in the box, it miraculously fits. I've had certified mail that requires a signature taken back to the post office many times without any attempt to come to my door. I'm pretty sure the usps has standards that every office and carrier is supposed to follow, but this place just makes up...
