Actually No Stars!
Adel…she is very rude. I brought my wedding dress to Adel to have it altered for my upcoming wedding. I went into the dressing room to try it on, along with the shoes that I would be wearing. Adel came into the dressing room and looked at it and immediately told me that she couldn’t alter it and that it was too small. I didn’t understand because she never even bustled the dress in the back. She continued to say it’s too small and that I should have got a bigger size because she could fix. I asked her as I’m holding up the dress, if there’s anything that could be done? She said no and it was impossible. She suggested that I go to “Sylvia’s” shaking her head and working on something else. I’m like who is Sylvia and where is she. I left feeling sad. My wedding was less than a month away. I immediately panic and head to David’s Bridal to find another dress because I trusted what she was saying. She would know better than me. I called my fiancé while I was in David’s Bridal and told him everything. I was in the process of purchasing a new dress. With alterations it would have costed me over $1000. My fiancé told me to leave and get a second opinion. To make a longer story short I came across “Sylvia’s” in Arlington Heights. I tried on the dress, they bustled me in and the dress fit perfectly. The only thing they needed to do was take in the area under my armpit. They also shortened the length. I kept asking the person doing the fitting, “it’s not too small?” She laughed and said, “no honey!” “Why do you keep asking that?” I told her that another alterations person said it was too small. She laughed and asked why would she say that? I kept asking myself the same question. So I went back to her after picking up my beautiful altered dress and asked her. She continue to say it was too small and that the dress that I purchased was her size. LIES!!! The dress is a size 16. Adele! You don’t wear a size 16. I told her thank you for suggesting Sylvia’s because they took care of it. She tiffed and pretty much blew me off the way she did during my last visit! I Will never go back OR suggest...
Read moreFound Adel through Google and am highly satisfied with her work! I have a big chest/broad shoulders, and smaller waist, same issue with legs (big thighs, small waist), so most button up shirts don't fit quite right and I have to go up a size or two. She was able to tailor 3 shirts to properly fit shoulder apex, still have a moveable armpit hole, and then also tapered in the sides and back to properly show my form! not looking like a giant box anymore, and having the shoulder/sleeve on the brink of ripping through every motion like the shirts did when the apex was too low.
She also mended a fancy pair of swim trunks I got in Spain, to keep the design and display in tact while making the waist line smaller and properly snug!
10/10 will use again! Expect ~2 week turnaround time, and calling in can be difficult to get a hold of her, so best if you have time to go in person, drop off clothes and make an appointment to then measure/pin for adjustments. otherwise you might have to wait for an existing appointment/customer to finish up. But it's worth the price and the work/measurements...
Read moreAdel is very professional and offers fair pricing. She altered my wedding dress and I was pleasantly surprised by the work on the lace.. There were some issues after I tried it on at home (and after getting it cleaned) but I brought the dress in right away and she did her magic to correct the issues and the dress turned out beautifully! She also gifted me a cute wedding purse made with scraps from shortening the hem. Some pictures attached include dress before alterations and select areas she stitched. I would trust her with future alterations! Just make sure you go in to get your alterations done early as she is in...
