Los Chapines Tortillería — Restaurant in Elk Grove Township

Food was very good. I ended up with chilaquiles (with chicken breast) and my friend got the pupusas and dobladas. Really solid, and I appreciate the subtle differences in flavors between the Guatamalan dishes and standard Mexican fare.

However, only 4/5 because ordering (in English) was difficult. I tried to get grilled skirt steak and a green chicken enchilada (as a single item, listed that way on the menu) but what was originally brought out was 3 green chicken enchiladas. I explained the issue and thought it was clear but ended up getting brought the chilaquiles.

My friend got his pupusas but the dobladas was not brought and had to be ordered again.

The food was delicious and I'm not a picky eater so this wasn't a huge deal, but others that need to order a specific thing, in English, may have trouble.

I will be back though, and I will brush up...

Guatemalan and Mexican food at its best. It started with the salsa and chips. The salsa was so amazingly tasteful and the chips were a great complement to the salsa. My husband had a chicharron and queso papusa, which could have been a meal by itself. He also had the beefsteak dinner, which was delicious. I had a vegetable tostada and a bean tostada. Both were fabulous. I also ordered the beef enchilada with beans. The beef was just marvelously tasty.

If you have any room left after you've finished your meal or if you're just in the mood, there's an ice cream store next door that is connected to this restaurant.

This might be a small Place.. But it is Authentic.. and yes there are maybe a few staff working.. but they do a great job in trying to satisfy all customers. All customers can not be pleased accordingly. I have enjoyed coming here since opening.. they have grown and the menu has changed some.. but for a good reason. I introduced my wife to the restaurant and she is hard to satisfy… I knew by having her approval this was a winner.. it is a combination of Guatemalan and Mexican.. for me I appreciate authentic food.
