New and clean! We went for our first time to this place with a 4yr old, 5 yr old and 7 yr old all not good swimmers. Due to their need for a life jacket the kids were only allowed in the kiddie pool. Which is pretty big! This is where they have the small lazy river and slightly on the side the large slide slides into (separate from the kiddie pool but right next to it). Also if you have small kids (life jacket wearing) a parent is required to be with the children. This place gets busy and I would highly suggest being with your child in the pool. Oh and to my suprise they have life jackets to borrow!!!! No check out needed once your in they are on an organized rack right up front. Note they are open mid day for recreation swim. Their website is very new and not very complete. Was frustrated navigating the website as it is combined with the wackford swim center and elk grove park swim center. It was pretty difficult to find swim times. I would suggest when you go there pick up a swim time schedule. They seem to be open 1130-3 (I may be off 30 mins for close time-we left early). When I glanced at the schedule they do have a few night swim days scheduled. They have a cool snack bar that has actual food like pizza. They have indoor and outdoor showers. Not much seating (especially in the shade) but they allow you to bring umbrellas and you can find a spot on the small patch of grass near the tables. There are no seats located around the kiddie pool. So bring your own seats if you want to sit near you kids in this area there is no shade in this area either bring your large umbrella!!!! Side note: super difficult to sign up for swim lessons at this sight. You have to come before swim hour times (which I kept missing-even 30 mins prior as they were preping for rec. Swim time). Go over to wackford swim center (as they are connected through csd) and you can sign up there. I signed up my 5 yr old for a beginners class for $66! 8 sessions for 30 mins per session. Oh almost forgot on a few times we've gone (and missed sign up time for lessons) they have a water feature right out side the facility. My daughter had the best time running around in the water sprout up fountains! She loved it so much after going in the pool she requested to take a run out front (which is great since the place allows in and outs!) The center also allows you to bring...
Read moreIt’s new and clean; it’s getting a lot of press/hype for being new. You may have to pay extra to use the Olympic sized pool, at least when we went (on a weekday) you had to have a special wristband to use it. And it wasn’t set up for lap swim, they had a large inflatable obstacle course set up on it so that may have had something to do with. The other 2 pools are clean, the pre-teens and teens dominated the smaller square pool and the other small pool had small young families. The “lazy river” isn’t very large. Parents need to be literally standing there watching their kids if they’re not in the water with them. The BIGGEST flaw this place has is the lack of seating and shade. All the tables and chairs near the snack bar were held/used by families using the pool so there was no place to sit and eat if you wanted to. There are sun shades near the teen pool but they are small and fit nothing larger than a chase lounger. To make a long story short, the shade that WAS available was crowded and ALL the available chairs/seating was taken within 30 minutes of opening. Hours of operation are also very strange. 11:30am-3:30pm? I can see if they needed to close 1 or 2 of the pools for swim team practice/meets or swim lessons, but keep the kiddie pool and slides open. The hottest part of the day is between 3pm-6pm and they...
Read moreThe facilities are above average for Sacramento. That being said this is a no fun zone. There's two diving boards that have the potential for being fun but the rules don't allow for any sort of twist, flips, rear facing take offs. I do understand that these rules are not only enforced at this facility but all of Sacramento's public swimming pools. There's a reason why our youth would rather be doing other stuff that far less productive than doing laps or diving off the spring board. One more annoyance about this facility is paying a premium to use the 50 meter pool. Not only is it ridiculous to charge extra but it's a rip off when there's only 25 meter lengths are available. Dear city of Sacramento there's great potential for our youth to get involved in activities that facilities like North Natomas Aquatic Center can provide let's not build a wall of red tape and unmotivational rules. Let our kids get hooked on water sports. Additional rant; building facilities like this in more public transportation dependable areas might bring access to more people who can't rely on a motor vehicle...
