Kintaro Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Elk Grove

We had been to Kintaro many times and supported them all through Covid. However, tonight we ordered dinner for two at 7:20pm and was told that it would be ready in 30 minutes. My husband arrived at 7:45pm to pick up our "to-go" order. He waited...and waited...He was told multiple times that his order was "coming up next"...He even asked one lady who was leaving with her "to-go" order when she had place her order...She had placed her order at 7:45pm and was already leaving with her food...My husband watched many others, some with large orders, be given their food...Still he was waiting...He even went inside to find out what had happened to our order, and how much longer it would be, but no one could give him a forthright answer...Finally someone came out with some sort of gift card for "next time" since he had already paid the bill long ago...Still no food! My husband said keep your gift card because there would be no next time! In fact, keep my money, since I already paid, keep the 20% tip that I already gave, and cancel my order because I'm leaving!

We understand busy...we understand mistakes...but, don't keep us waiting without explanation! Be forthright and honest. Our time is worth something to us and there are plenty of restaurants that appreciate...

I’ll start off by saying the service was pretty excellent albeit a little new. He was really attentive and did his best to accommodate any way he can. But unfortunately the food was really not good. I ordered two rolls gluten free, and one came out with tempura(not gluten free) and the other had tempura stuck to the bottom which I didn’t realize till I was already eating it. The rolls were weirdly warm for a cold roll, covered in cross contamination and overall just tasted a little off. My girlfriend’s order also looked terrible honestly and none of their spicy rolls looked like they actually had any sauce in the spicy tuna and they said tasted really bland and not spicy. A bummer because we’re always looking for new sushi spots but the cross contamination thing makes this not a choice for me in the future. Hopefully they work on that because the space is nice and the servers...

I'll start by saying that I come here often for lunch and the lunch hour crew is fabulous and deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, the evening crew is constantly awful. I've wasted two trips for dinner. The first was a total embarrassment as I had recommended this place for a large group. We waited forever for a table even though several were available. I finally had to ask someone why we were still waiting and suddenly we were seated. And we had another 20+ minute wait to be waited on. Things continued like this the whole visit and the wait staff had attitudes the whole time. I just tried it again, just me this time and what a surprise. Very few people there so I got seated right away. Then I sat for 20 minutes while parties who can in after me got waited on. I had enough and got up and left. I will never go here for...
