Elk Rapids Cinema — Local services in Elk Rapids Township

This theater was built in 1940. It is extremely well preserved in the Art Deco style. It has a very nice angle to the seating. Not as severe as stadium seating in modern theatets but impressive for it's age. The seats are very comfortable and more impressive is there is plenty of leg room. The sound and picture are perfect. The concessions are very old school but acceptable. Sodas are the Traverse City Pop Company, can't remember their name. The only real downside is the bathrooms are up some very narrow stairs.

Nicely renovated small town theater. Reasonably priced tickets and concessions. I don't personally care for the new overpriced theater in Traverse City, so I choose to patron small town theaters. This place is precious, magical. It's like stepping out of a time machine when you walk thru the doors. Everything feels like 1950s; prices, atmosphere, everything except the movie. When my wife and I watch movies here, it's like I get an odd feel like I am actually in the movie! Or, at the least, I'm on the set of the movie. Crazy.
