Birds Gotta Fly — Local services in Elkhart

Sincere suggestion: Please provide signage for small businesses that are located within an existing business, or be ready to direct people who look lost. There are those of us that want to support small businesses, especially in the current economy. Making the experience pleasant, or at least not anxiety-provoking, should be a goal. It’s a win-win, the small business actually gets business, and the existing business is viewed favorably by a potential customer. I’m offering this feedback, and trying to be understanding, in spite of fact that I felt that the whole experience was awkward and off-putting.

I stopped in to visit Forever Holland Plant Co. for the first time(I’ll review that portion, too). I thought that perhaps I had the wrong building because there wasn’t a sign to direct me. So, I looked around at the beautiful furniture and decor. The staging of the pieces was imaginative and fresh. I may have been inclined to make a purchase, but the whole vibe was weird with the staff. Nobody asked if I was looking for anything, I’m pretty sure I was “tailed” by two employees.

I was feeling pretty anxious and almost left, but I decided to try the upstairs to see in a last ditch attempt. There wasn’t anything that indicated that I’d made the correct choice, but upon walking upstairs and then pushing open a door, I found the Forever Holland Plant Co.

The plants were very well-cared for, and the prices were comparable to the Midwest market. There were several hard-to-find plants.

I’m hoping to try again at some point. There’s a nice coffee shop, the restrooms are lovely, and the decor...

Super Cute!! Well curated mix of old and new pieces. Vignettes show off things creatively. The Clothing Boutique is super cute! Love the touch of the handmade bags! There is even a place to get food and cookies. 😉 If your an Annie Sloane Chalk paint user, they are well stocked. The baby toys, clothes and gifts... oh my gosh... SO CUTE!! I want friends to have babies so I can get them cute things.

Oh my goodness! New devotee store! They have three sections all in one location. They have home decor and furniture that feels like you walked into a Fixer Upper episode. They also has some plants and herbs that were in season. They offer classes for different home furniture projects as well. Then they have a coffee shop/cafe right in the middle of the building were people were hanging out playing cards and also has some live music occasionally.
