Lived in Elkhart for 20 years and I visited inside for the first time a couple weeks ago when my aunt came to visit. It is a great tourist destination! They have guided tours every hour on the hour that last around 1hr. My tour guide was very willing to answer questions and showed us some cool secrets of the house. My aunt was surprised by the cool organ-type instrument inside the house, the goregous dining room, the china, Mrs. Beardsley's bedroom, and the electric car in the garage. Not to mention the calm beauty of the gardens. Learned so much about the Beardsleys and my own city. Definitely recommend!

while visiting family in Elkhart Indiana my aunt suggested we go to the rothmere campus. it also turns out that my cousin happens to run the museum and was kind enough to meet us there and help with the tour. The house is spectacular but unfortunately there are no pictures allowed in the house but it is a definite must see!!!! It is an amazing architectural achievement.

We had a great time touring us historic home. One of the neatest things to see is the organ. I recommended that if you're in Elkhart you tore both homes one right after the other. A beautiful example of American history being preserved.

Wow!!!! This home is absolutely extraordinary & Mark our Tour Guide was such a gracious host & extremely knowledgeable & fun. You will enjoy it so much more if you get involved & ask lots of questions, even quirky ones like, "Is it haunted?" I will leave the answer for you to find out when you plan a trip to visit this Mansion. You will be swept away at the Oppulence of Ruthmere. Mark is the Bonus, he was charming & genuine & made the afternoon so enjoyable. We visited Elkhart to walk some trails, we walked the trails at Cobus Creek County Park, just down the street, it is gorgeous, and the restrooms truly sparkle, they are soo clean. I can see why The Beardsley Family chose Elkhart to...

We came for the family free day on a recent Sunday. It was very nice. They had organized the tour volunteers in each room and sent each group of people to the next room. Each person made sure to call out anybody who touched anything. The one who told me, I told them that I was using the wall for balance. Which can be the case. They made sure to tell us all that photography was not allowed inside on the free day. And the one guy who shined his flashlight up on something on the wall to see better, they called him out for taking pictures and he wasn't. A good experience overall. Just be sure not to touch anything. They also had a barbershop quartet and ice cream on...

Wonderful! If you love history, tales of the past, architecture, grand wood, stone, masonry and High Tea every Tuesday at 2pm(call to check for availability, the spots fill up fast!) GO TO THIS PLACE! Staff is so kind and knowledgeable and it's nice to take in a piece of old Elkhart, IN still standing today. If out for a day excursion or have some extra layover time while passing through, Checkout The Ruthmere Estate. It is a 501C-3(non-profit) so donations aren't required, but they are appreciated to keep things like this in existence for the next generation to see. If you love a good High Tea party, inquire about events and details, bring a friend or few or...
