My parents have been members here for years. I recently started going with my mom when i went to get a membership I was given an extremely hard time due to an employees lack of knowledge concerning the name of my bank...which led to a domino effect with 4 other employees not allowing me to join. The assistant manager Amanda refuse to help me and made comments..."that Cecil county especially elkton is a bad area and bc she was not granular with my bank she needed a Persian email from them for me to join. I had been going for 2 weeks twice a day as a guest than I paid for a 3 day pass..To say the least when my 3 day pass expired I was going in with my parents to cancel their memberships and to inform them we were joining another gym bc of the rude and ignorance of the staff the 3 days i was trying to join. I walked in and was blown away by an extraordinaire young man by the name of ASMIR...when he greeted us my attitude changed and I could tell this guy knew his job and would follow guidelines to sign me up after all it was the ignorance of the previous employees of why I couldn't get my membership. Asmir signed me up when i have him the required info and gave me a tour of the facility and lots of info..my parents learned mite about that gym in 10 minutes with him then they had the past years. He apologized for my experience and made me happy to join again...as he was helping me customers were coming in and leaving and Asmir was greeting them or saying see u next time...but his personality..and passion for his job was magnetic and its something you do not see very often in employees anywhere. Asmir's attitude literally makes me want to go to planet fitness ..he built an instant trusting relationship with me and i felt like he cared..and that's what matters and that is why I'm giving them a 5...
Read moreToday, I was told by a young man that I could not have my small nylon bag on the floor beside the elliptical machine. Thinking of safety for others, there was no one beside or in front of me that could have tripped over the bag.
I asked, what if it has my medication in it? He said, what like an inhaler. I stated, yes. He then asked if I had Asthma, btw which was none of his business, and I stated, yes. He then stated that I could get a doctor's note, and then they would consider it. It requires special approval. Let me say in all my years of having a disability and going to the gym I have never been told that I need to get a doctor's note to have my medication close by. I've visited a planet fitness in over 10 states and I have never been asked to bring in a note. I'm in my forties and not working in high school. Also, I don't think I should have been asked about personal information in an open area. If the young man wanted to discuss further he should have asked me to step to an area with more privacy.
Needless to say, this establishment is not friendly towards people with disabilities although the person may look perfectly fine on the outside. Membership canceled.
I wonder if the employees are trained to asked people about their health conditions in a an open area. There is a...
Read moreI originally gave this place 5 stars but now I have to give this place 1 star. The new manager does not allow safety equipment to be brought in when they do not provide any to begin with. The original manager about a year ago I asked if I could bring in safety equipment to use to help me grip the bar easier, resistance bands that can attach to something without relying on your hand strength if you have poor hand strength, elbow support for tennis elbow and was given the ok to purchase and bring this stuff in. The new manager does not allow safety devices to be allowed in regardless what the old manager said. He states it's in the policy. I read it, printed it out and saved it and no where does it say that you can not bring safety equipment in to the gym. And recently I sprained my wrist and I fear they will tell me to leave my brace in the locker since only gloves ate allowed.
Also you can only have bags on the floor if their is a medical device in it. I have a medical device and do not have to disclose it due to HIPPA. And was still told to show them or put it back in the locker room.
This gym is becoming misleading and the bugs all over the locker room...
