If I could rate this lower I would. The new ownership has let the standards for customer service drop immensely. The quality of clothing has also tanked. Unfinished edges on the inside of the newer vests, compared to older vests, make the new ones look poor quality and do not justify the price.
I also have to say the customer service I experienced means I will never shop here again. I had called on a multitude of occasions to try and make a payment for my custom garment, because their online system was down. At the time of ordering there was an 8 week wait. Great. Just in time for Christmas! Yay! Did not receive a call back about payment until five days after Christmas.
I just got it in the mail after they apparently lost the ability to return a phone call on several crucial steps WHERE ALL OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.
Whatever, at least I’m getting what I ordered, right? I had called to make a sizing change on the custom peice before they had sent thinking no biggie, I’ve done that in the past. Apparently “the person in charge of production didn’t want to” no matter how much I begged or asked if I could pay an upcharge of 100$+. This was also told to me after they cut it after not returning my phone calls for WEEKS prior ABOUT THIS. I called and apparently they lost my voicemails (unlikely) and they didn’t call me back after it was cut but before it was sewn. It was the last of the teal fabric for the Hansen hoodie. I was told it was “Impossible to recut, sorry.” No problem, I thought, this is on them, they usually make things right! They refused to cut it down by hand, something I’ve seen them do several times as I used to work there! High level customer service after they did not call me back for weeks at a time wasn’t a priority of the company at this time.
I had called probably ten times and only after they cut it did they call me back.
In my opinion their clothing is not worth the price anymore. I used to be a die hard customer. I used to work there. After this I will never buy another thing from them unless they make it right with me (which I doubt would ever happen)
Me and my family have probably spent $5000+ here at this business because we believed in the quality of the products and the fact that they were made in the USA.
You have done nothing to try and rectify this situation. I am asked all the time about my Wintergreen pieces. I won’t be able to recommend your company in good conscience anymore. You had a lot of good stuff they you got rid of for ridiculous products. Terrapins were the best thing you ever sold. So was the Hygge. It would have been better to retire the Hygge until you figured out a better fabric.
Your wait times used to be worth waiting for, back when the quality was...
Read moreWhen only the BEST will do, Wintergreen Northern Wear is for you! You will find the best Arctic Clothing comes out of Ely, Minnesota! I have owned Patagonia, North face, Sitka and other popular Gore-Tex featured brands. My Wife gave me a 2XL Sitka Stormfront jacket and pants for Christmas. She spent over $1,100. The fit of the Sitka gear was poor and did not allow your body to breath. I have used Gortex most of my life and learned how to use it to my advantage, despite the fact it was like wearing a trash bag as a shell, always having to strip off my shells before hiking up inclines, climbing a tree, etc. If I don't, I end up soaked in sweat since Gore-Tex does not breath at all, despite what the manufacturer claims.
Then I found the material SUPPLEX at the recommendation of a friend of mine who is an Alaskan Homesteader/Dog Musher/Beaver Mitt Maker. Where the hell have I been? Being an avid outdoors-man, I feel like I have been robbed for most of my life, not knowing about this great BREATHABLE Nylon material!
I began to research this material and the brands that use it. That's when I found Wintergreen! I read through the entire site and knew immediately, this is the jacket for me, heck every article of clothing they sell I need! The full zip Anorak had everything I was looking for in a Shell. It is water/wind repellent, BREATHABLE, being the most important factor, and it is Made in the USA!!! Surprisingly, this jacket is under $400!!!
The staff are just fantastic! Kassie and the other girls all deserves a raise!!! She made sure I had my Jacket and Pants well before my Alaska trip on March 5th. Prior to this, I had called to inquire about ruffs and some other questions. Kassie was very friendly, professional and eager to help, with lots of knowledge on what is going to work for me. She even took time out of her busy day to look thru a box of ruffs to show me the darkest Coyote on-hand, since I preferred something dark to match my hat and mitts, like old man winter cares if I match, lol! Since they didn't have what I was looking for, she suggested to add just a zipper to the hood so I could have the person who's making my Beaver trapper hat, make my Ruff too. A 4" Black Wolf with Beaver trim in Starburst pattern with the paws attached to function as a scarf, will make this Shell even more Arctic capable then what...
Read morePurchased winter mittens many years ago and quality is unsurpassed. About 4yrs ago I purchased a Karl Merino wool cardigan which I would wear several times a year for special occasions. This March I happened to notice all the seams had developed little holes, see picture. I contacted Wintergreen and asked if this is what I should have expected. Their response was "Our merino wool line is 100% wool, typically other brands are blending their wool products to increase the durability over time, but we have gone another route. After a few years of use they will lose a degree of durability." I let then know I have not seen this with any of my other 100% merino wool products from Icebreaker, Smartwool or others and told them I was disappointed and felt this was a faulty product. They replied "We appreciate all the feedback you have provided and have passed this conversation to our product development and production management teams." Needless to say I will not purchase any more merino wool products from Wintergreen and would caution other folks to be aware of this problem. Also, I posted a review on their website which they refused to post which again leaves me very disappointed in this company. All I can see is buyer beware when it come to Wintergreen Merino wool...
