A Truly Extraordinary Experience at The Mudd House

I don’t usually write reviews, but my experience at The Mudd House was so exceptional, I felt compelled to share.

From the moment I walked in, I felt completely welcomed. The space is warm, inviting, and filled with a sense of community. There’s an energy in the air that tells you this is more than just a ceramic studio — it’s a place where creativity is nurtured, and everyone is genuinely included.

What stood out to me most was the hands-on involvement of every instructor. They weren’t just guiding from afar — they were right there with us, kneeling by wheels, helping with glazes, offering tips, encouragement, and endless patience. It didn’t matter what skill level someone was at — beginners and seasoned artists alike were treated with the same care and enthusiasm.

And the owner? Absolutely incredible. Not only were they present, but they were fully engaged — answering questions, offering suggestions, even jumping in to help when someone was struggling. You could see their passion in every corner of the studio and in every interaction.

One moment that truly solidified how special this place is: during my session, I witnessed the staff handle a particularly difficult customer. Despite the customer's visible frustration and negativity, the entire team responded with such grace, kindness, and professionalism. They listened patiently, offered thoughtful solutions, and never once lost their cool. It was a masterclass in customer care, and I was genuinely proud to witness it. It made me feel even more confident in the values of this studio.

By the end of my visit, I had signed up for a membership on the spot — that’s how much I loved it. I’ve already brought several friends with me to share the experience, and every single one of them has left with the same glowing feeling I did.

The Mudd House is more than just a place to play with clay — it’s a place to connect, to grow, and to be part of something special. I’ll be back again and again, and I’ll keep singing their praises to anyone...

Okay, I seriously have to gush about The Mudd House for a second. I’ve been to a lot of creative spaces, but this one? It just hits different. The second I walked in, I felt at ease — like I could just breathe and be myself. There’s this effortless warmth to the place that you can’t fake. The people, the energy, the way the light hits the shelves of handmade pieces — it all just feels… good. Every single staff member I met was so hands-on and kind. They didn’t just tell me what to do — they actually got in it with me, like genuinely interested in helping me learn and enjoy it. It didn’t matter that I was new. I felt encouraged the entire time. And get this — the owner was there, like, actually working alongside the team, not just overseeing from a distance. Helping clean, answering questions, checking in with everyone. You don’t always see that kind of presence, and it made a huge difference. There was one moment that really stuck with me — this woman, Tammy (yep, I caught her name), came in and started treating the staff so poorly. Full-on bullying them over something minor. It was rough to witness. But the way the team handled it? With so much compassion and patience, it blew me away. No one got defensive, no one raised their voice — they just stayed grounded and kind, even though she was being incredibly difficult. It actually made me emotional. That kind of grace is rare. By the end of the class, I was already signing up for a membership. And I’ve since brought a few friends with me because I had to share it. This place is the real deal — heart-centered, community-driven, and just… beautiful in every way. If you’ve been thinking about trying something new or want to feel creatively inspired (and genuinely cared for), you need to check this place out. I’ll be going back...

My partner and I have never done pottery before and did a private lesson with Emma and had an amazing experience. Emma was not only a knowledgeable, patient and a helpful teacher, she made the lesson so much fun for both of us. I have a tendency to get frustrated if I am not good at something right off the bat, but Emma embodied a playful spirit, keeping the lesson fun and reminding me it takes time and practice with anything to truly learn a new skill. While teaching us all the basics and tools to be able to throw on our own in the future. We both walked away with 3 successful thrown pieces we get to call our own. Couldn’t recommend this studio enough for someone just starting out, an idea for a fun date night or for experienced potters, since the studio itself has such a good vibe to...
