Just over a week ago I rented Ski's from Enumclaw Ski Rentals to go have a great day at Crystal Mountain. I had rented there before. Around Noon I was skiing down Queens run which is a green circle (beginner run) when I took a turn and went down. It was a fall that was no major deal and I was okay luckily. When I came to a stop I went to get my ski's and saw both Bindings had broken and failed. Mind you I have been skiing for over 20 years and never seen anything like this. The person with me witnessed the whole thing as it was a normal fall and with his 35 years of skiing he had also never seen anything like it. Not sure if I fell because they failed. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT DO TO EQUIPMENT. After this malfunction I had to limp it down to the bottom and it ended my great day. When I returned the ski's to them they asked a few questions and and said someone would contact me tomorrow. That never happened so I assumed that was the end. About ten days later I received a rude message from Vanessa accusing me of neglect and letting me know I would be charged for damage without telling me how much. I believe the bindings were installed incorrectly or fitted improperly. After I called to find out what was going on they told me oh well the insurance I bought from them does not even cover things and they would still be charging me hundreds and hundreds of dollars. DO NOT RENT FROM THERE FOR YOUR SAFETY. VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE AND SERVICE. BEWARE. I had even just bought over 500$ in gear from them two weeks before for my wife. THAT'S HOW YOU WILL BE TREATED. I have requested a phone call from the owner Joe Webber and will update things depending on...
Read moreI've meant to share some praise twice in the past... Short Version: YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO INTO THE CITY TO HAVE YOUR ROAD BIKE WELL-CARED FOR. Even though the focus here is mountain bikes, when I was having problems with my old brake shifters, they recognized that I had a particular type that needed lubing (I'd never been told that at the road bike shops). So they did that for free, warned me that they were going to fail soon, but in the meantime I was able to get another year of restored operation out of them. Then when they failed, I replaced them with secondhand shifters and bought fresh cables from ES&MS. Afterward, I brought the bike in to have them tune the shifting. When I returned to pick it up, they'd not only adjusted the shifting, but realized that I'd mistakenly installed the brake cables in place of shifter cables and vice-versa. Label me inept, and them as very kind. Shift cables had been replaced at no additional charge. Please don't ask for or expect freebies, that's not the point, but do recognize that we have a fantastic local bike shop run by fantastic people, whether it says "Ski & Mountain" on the sign or not. THANK YOU, ES&MS ! You guys are...
Read moreVery inappropriate and rude owner. I dropped off a brand new pair of skis with clear instructions for where to be mounted. A nice employe made an honest mistake, but by inches. I expected a refund and for them to be properly mounted because multiple drills lower resale value greatly. Shop owner refused, going as far as saying "judging by your boots, you don't take care of your gear, and the holes won't matter". He only gave me a refund after I refused to leave and my fiance explained the seriousness of multiple drills. The best part, THE OWNER MESSED UP THE SECOND ATTEMPT BY 5/8". Cant make this up. I will now be drilling my brand new, $1500 skis a third...
