I’ve purchased prime rib at Long’s for over 11 years now. I’m giving 2 stars only because of past success. This year I’ve moved 2 hours away and called in my order early. Gentleman who took my order was nice, told me I could pick it up anytime after the 21st. Due to work I couldn’t drive over until the 24th. I tried calling 3 times before leaving and it went to a recorded message each time, but the recording said their hours were 9 am to 6 pm and nothing was stated about holiday hours. I arrived at 4 pm to a chained and padlocked door with a white board sign in front of it with their hours written as “9 am to 6 pm.” Rather confusing and distressing, so I tried calling. Someone was inside as I saw a door in a back area open, but no one picked up. Today (27th) I get a call from a Loretta who listened to my message. I relate the above, that nothing was mentioned about holiday hours when I placed my order, nothing was stated on their phone recording about closing early, and the big white board sign in front still said 9 to 6. Loretta says “We’ve always closed early on Christmas Eve.” When I explain there’s no way I could possibly know that when it’s not stated or posted she then informs me that they type computerized schedules that are pasted on the door. Okay, you don’t mention it at ordering, you don’t change your recording to let anyone know, the largest signage in front of your store states 9-6, but okay, the fault is mine for not being psychic and visualizing a typed 14-pt font paper on a door 2 hours away. Yes, Loretta, as you stated when ending your call “whatever.” You’ve lost my business. On a positive note, I bought the best prime rib yet right across the street at Market of Choice....
Read moreAbsolutely not! I've been going here for years. Today I was talked into a ribeye that supposedly just had the fat trimmed away from the outside but when I went to season it at home I found that it had been butchered and I do mean butchered... They butchered it so bad that they had to tie a string around it just to hold it together to all the "other" fat that they left. My steaks are not steaks they are mangled pieces of steak held together by string! When I called the manager he actually was very rude and asked me why I would pick out a steak that was like those steaks because they were so bad that they had to cut the fat out of the center of them. I explained that I hadn't paid attention but I was told that they had only trimmed off some of the fat from the outside. Which was absolutely a lie. I told Ken what had happened and that I had been misinformed and he didn't care so then I asked Ken the manager why in the world I would I buy a mutilated steak for the same price of an awesome steak sitting right in front of it and he said "well I don't know why you would do that, you tell me"... well Ken I will never do that again! Long's meat is just a dead...
Read moreWe haven't been to Long's for several years after being accused of trying to cheat them. We still get upset over what happened. One year, we ordered a ham for Christmas. When we picked it up, it was busy and didn't notice they charged us what we can only guess was either someone else's subtotal, prime rib price, or they just added an extra digit to the total. When my husband went back in, the man working said he was too busy and asked if we could come back in soon. We went back again and after my husband explained what happened, the man working that day was very rude and accused us of trying to cheat them. We didn't have an itemized receipt (we were never offered one) but we did have the credit card receipt. We could have understood their position if they had just been nice or civil about their concerns, but they chose to go on the offense and wouldn't even consider they made a mistake. Our family and extended family have never been back. I feel like this could have been worked out in a number of ways and we were disappointed that they weren't willing to...
