Bayshore Mall — Local services in Eureka

I am a Truck Driver, who lives in Michigan. I had the duty to deliver goods to various places here in Eureka, CA over the last few days so that the people of the community could enjoy their comforts living this great american life. As for me, I am stuck living in a box smaller than a prison cell, being charges with a vehicle that almost totals 70 feet in length. While you go home to sleep in your bed I have to find a safe place to park my rig so I can sleep.

I had found such a place here, Way in the back lot, completely away from the customers. I was not blocking any Driveway, or Door. I was not disrupting customers in any way. I did not dump any liquid from my truck, nor did I leave behind any litter of any kind. My Vehicle does not leek any fluids, so my spot I was in was just as clean as it was when I had arrived. I had a few Police officers wave to me as they drove by to make sure the area was secure. I felt safe here. I did go inside to do some shopping.

I now, regret that decision. I was told by a security officer that "The Operations Manager of the mall does not want any Trucks parking at the mall" and thus told me to leave, or he was going to call the cops on me for trespassing.

That moment I felt like a Low life, piece of scum. I felt like a homeless man just wanting a nice nights sleep. I wish I had not shopped in this mall because I do not want to support any Business that has, or employs people with an attitude like this.

I am sorry Mr. Operations Manager, but I do not want to sleep in a place that might put my life in danger just to appease your personal distaste of us "Truckers" I am Sorry that the world does not give us any luxury for the service that we have to do to make this country move. I hope you enjoy sleeping in your comfy bed that a truck delivered, I hope you enjoy your Finley cooked meal that a Trucker delivered all so you can go to work, and treat us like the scum that apparently we are.

You have a massive lot, in a town where there is zero truck services for hundreds of miles. As long as we are not disrupting your customers, Why are we treated like we are not welcome ?

So, Mr. Operations Manager, I would like to spread my opinion. I, Do not want people to shop here. I urge anyone reading this to shop elsewhere. If you possibly can get your goods from other sources, Please do so. Maybe the drop in Customers will make "Mr. Operations Manager" realize that treating people, no matter what profession, or way of life they choose, like scum is not ok.

I have returned what items I could that I bought but regret I could not return everything. If I am ever in this area again, I will never spend a single penny in this place ever again. My money is spent to business that support My way of life. Who treat me like a Human being, and who care...

This mall is an example of what happens when the retail square foot rate exceeds the value and affordability in a mall. The pricing for retail space has risen way high, causing retailers to pull out or risk financial failure. For the management group that currently owns this mall to be so neglectful with resolving the issue is an example of how large corporations so often ruin small communities with their greed and disconnect. I remember when the mall was built so many years ago. It thrived, then maintained, until the rates started creeping up higher than what retailers could afford. Mall attendance began to drop as retailers started to pull out and permanently close their doors, including large chains. The rate of store closure outpaced the number of retail space being leased due to the high cost to rent space and expensive renovations. The number of stores in this mall are embarrassing. It appears to have less than half occupancy and has only one large anchor store, Kohl's, making Walmart an actual blessing to have. They, like the DMV, are rarely ever seen in a mall. I've only seen two other malls in my 50 years of life that were as bad as this and neither of them are still in existence. Not to say this mall is going to be going out of business but I can't see it continuing this path of maintaining high retail space cost per square foot. The retail spacing, store configuration and affordable options for kiosk and other traffic generating avenues seem to be less important than giving a good mall experience. The food court has literally 3 options, there is one half of the mall that has mainly just a Planet Fitness and the main entry corridor as you walk in has empty retail space, giving the first glimpse of what our ghost town mall has to offer. Much of Eureka is experiencing the woes of lower retail store traffic and the largest property management and owners have this same, strangle the renter mentality, and refuse to back down the costs. They bank on the community dealing with the price hikes eventually and every space that remains empty hurts us more than them because it is only a small portion of their overall revenue stream. The Bayshore Mall is a tiny speck on the spreadsheet so the vacancies are not a concern as much as it is to us. This is why online shopping is eclipsing the retail store experience. Shame on the corporate greed and the dismantling of our only shopping experience. I bet dollars to donuts that nobody will address this posting, not due to length, but because the answer would have to come from outside this community and from a corporation that doesn't even look down the spreadsheet past the number that represents this mall in the long list of properties they manage. Humboldt County residents deserve the opportunity...

Lower the rent thing for the other stores, WHY did you take away my favorite stores?!?! The Arcade?! WHY IT WAS SO FUN :( It seems sad, I only go here for the Walmart and hot topic. I LOVED THE ARCADE, and listen I loved the other store I forgot what It's called but it was orange and the bags said something like "Thanks for buying from this store" And the store name, It sold Avatar the last Airbender stuff and The legend of korra things and other less known games and shows/anime figures. WHY DID YOU TAKE IT AWAY FROM MEEEEEEEEEEE!! Also it is slowly dying bro why is the person who made it getting greedier by the years?? BRING back the arcade!!!!!! WHY DID YOU GO LIKE "Bye bye DMV" AND REMOVED THE DMV?? Ross dress for less is good, the Walmart is good and all..IF THEY TAKE AWAY GAMESTOP YOU WONT SEE ME AGAIN SHOPPING HERE IM JUST SAYING. ITS NOT OKAY TO REMOVE SO MUCH STORES OVER THE YEARS BROCHACCO. I'm telling you cause what..HOW do you even think its good to take away good stores and keep the mid ones-?? Tell me why bro tell me why. Food court is good I guess, I don't eat there I eat at home but others seem happy when I see them eat there. TO MAKE UP FOR THE EMPTY STORES, GHOST MALL, PLEASE ADD NEW ONES OR DIFFERENT ONES PLEASE I SWEAR IF YOU DONT AND LEAVE IT THE SAME IM NEVER COMING BACK HERE EVER...
