My husband and I were excited to try Time Out last night, and I wanted to share the impression our experience left.
The first thing we noticed when we walked in is a large group of young, beautiful women wearing tight referee outfits. The only male employee I ever saw was the owner who was walking around talking to patrons. A group of adult men sat at the table behind us and were immediately making crude comments about their waitress. The next thing you notice is how cheap the entire place is decorated. If you don't notice it as you walk in, you will notice it by the time you sit down since your table is made of an unappealing wood-print laminate on top of particleboard. The decor turned me off quite a bit and I could go on.
We ordered a couple drinks, mango habanero wings, a blooming onion, and some sliders; just a bunch of sides. Our service was great, the ladies were wonderful and kind. The food was decent, although my husband, who is a chicken wing addict, did not like the wings. It was $60; on the expensive side, but not crazy or unexpected. We were mostly uncomfortable with the atmosphere and the comments being made by the men behind us, although the atmosphere seemed to me to invite and/or welcome those comments.
I think there's a type of person who likes this atmosphere, but it wasn't us, and we didn't feel like Time Out embodied Humboldt well....
Read moreI debated leaving this review a couple days now. We aren’t locals so I won’t be able to pass the word along any other way. Let’s start off by saying the food was great as well as our waitress! While my husband and I were here we seen a verbal exchange between two customers and one of the servers. I believe the customers were annoyed they weren’t served as soon as they sat down. My husband and I watched as we overheard the server be chewed out for being “slow”- she was busy with another table and got to them efficiently. Entitlement was the actual issue. The rest of the time the ladies were there we noticed one of them wouldn’t stop making snide comments about the server. Name calling and such. We think the owner touched base with them and it was very similar. Lots of animosity for what was over the smallest inconvenience. On their way out one of the women approached the server again. This time cursing and yelling at her then, following, her friend with threats. These women were easily mid 50s. Too old to be acting the way they were. Point is the server held her ground VERY well. I didn’t see her stop smiling once throughout the women’s time there. Even while being stared down the whole time. Someone please pass along my message to her and let her know she offers great skills for the food industry! I was impressed. & Good job time out management for your...
Read moreRead the reviews and after some of the negative I was hesitant. I travel here often for work and once I am parked I want food walking distance so I can enjoy a beer. Shamious has always been the only option. The general appearance is good, exceeds expectations set by other reviewers. The food was good and freash, while I enjoyed my meal I wished I would have chosen the chicken marsela, maybe next time. I chose to sit at the bar and found service above par, on a Friday night they never let me go underserved and were very social while not ignoring other customers. Faith and Paige did an excellent job. I watched other waitresses and table service seemed spot on, everyone seemed happy. The food was fast and good quality. Reading other notes about agessive management and degrading of staff, I did not witness that and everyone seemed happy in their job. The kids were having fun with table games. Others mentioned the girls had overly suggestive clothing. Not true, The outfits are very appropriate and the girls seemed happy. Will...
