ZERO ETHICS (Response to Scott the owners snarky comment included) (Update my mower is still running after over a hundred more hours of my repair) I took my mower in for diagnostic on high pressure fuel pump and computer. I told them not to repair anything, just tell me what's wrong and we can work out a plan. They didn't do either of those things but called and said the valve was stuck and pushed out a valve guide. Returned it to me with the push rods, valve cover, and rocker arms removed. They quoted me $500 just for parts. I took them for their word and ordered the parts from my source for $260 and when they came in, I started to remove everything to make the repair. I started looking closer at the valves and didn't see anything wrong they moved freely. Nothing was out of place. So I put all the stuff they removed back in set the valve lash. I tested compression both sides at 125psi. No issue I tested the pump sitting where should be at 39 psi also good. I don't have the dongle or software to check the computer on this thing another reason I sent it to them. After checking fuel system manually and putting everything back together, it literally only needed a valve adjustment. Which I should have tried before assuming the worked from the start. They would have charged anyone $500-$1000 for something that was just needing adjustment. I think they pulled the cover saw the push rod not being held in and just laying in there and assumed the valve a was stuck took it apart and said that it was bad. (They did the head gasket last year so the adjusted everything to begin with) they also tried to hit me for $3000 last summer for a muffler that was under recall. They broke bolts and didn't tell me or give me options for a repair plan. Just pisses me off. I sent it to them to save time because it's a more complex engine and they tried to take advantage instead of doing the right thing.
There is absolutely nothing wrong the head You commenting that it will fail based on your history with me. You didn't do the task I paid you for to begin with dismantling the head wasn't what was supposed to be done. You have my number call me to discuss. But as far as I'm concerned you sir are a dishonest and I stand by my 25 years of working on equipment. The only reason I paid you to do the task I asked for is because I didn't have time to deal with it. In turn you tried to screw me further.
In response to Steve's comment, I talked to your mechanic, and he didn't perform any testing to back up his claim. He removed the valve cover , rockers, and push rods and claimed the head to be faulty. Went out and purchased the tools to perform the tests I paid you to do. There is no sign whatsoever that says that head is bad. The last company to have it off was yours when you broke most of the bolts off replacing the muffler. You would have had to have seen some indication of wear then.
I WHOLE HEARTEDLY STAND BY MY FINDINGS AS I AM THE ONE WHO ACTUALLY HAD MY HANDS IN IT AND PERFORMED THE TESTING THAT PROVES MY POINT. If you notice, it's never their fault when they get a bad review. Go back and look.
Added note I also filed 2 complaints...
Read moreThey love to take your business, but once payment is received, they are not helpful. Rented a lawn mower for one day, first they wanted to bill me for a half a day at the full day price. I had to wait 20 mins for the lawn mower to be ready, which they sprayed with a hose before trying to put it in my vehicles trunk...so they don't care if they create water damage to customer vehicles...I of course took precautions and put a plastic sheet down first. I took the lawn mower home quickly, live 5 mins away, and started it up to only get 2 rows in until the motor stopped working, then then after 5 times of the engine starting and stalling on me, the starter cable snapped within in the rubber casing. All this occurred with in 30 mins, as such I was someone lucky, per their language on the Invoice. If any issues arise after 30 mins of purchase, refunds are not provided. I immediately called Eureka Rental to provide the issue as they advised to do if any issues arise. Caleb answered the phone and I provided the issue that I would need to be fixed, he gave me two options, bring the dirty lawn mower back in and they will provide a replacement if they deem the issue wasn't caused by me, or have them pick it up for an additional $25 dollars one way. I advise this isn't acceptable, and I would need someone to come and pick it up and I will not pay for pick up, Caleb got angry and advised that is my choice, but I would liable for $25 extra a day if I kept the lawn mower and hung up on me. Immediately I called back, this time asking for the owner or another individual above the store manager, I was given the workaround that the owner was not here. Promptly and reluctantly I put the dirty mower back in my car and I drove to Eureka Rental. Entering, I asked for the owner, and a gentleman with glasses advised he was the "owner" and would not advise who Caleb was when I also asked if the store manager was there to. I ask for a full refund b/c i was rented a faulty machine and for the headache, the "Owner" wanted to argue how they were not at fault and where I signed a green slip saying the lawn mower is "safe" and "working properly," how can a customer advise on a rental machine with out full knowledge is asinine. I was able to get a refund, however there was a deposit for $100 and a rental charge after taxes of $43, a refund invoice shows a deposit of $100 and $0.00 charges for rental, so if my Credit Card still shows a payment of $100 to Eureka Rental, I will be disputing this charge and informing my Credit Card provider that it was a fraudulent charge by...
Read moreI use Eureka Rental from time to time for general repairs for my equipment for my lawn business, I've spent what, to me, amounts to a large amount of money there. Sometimes I wince at the repair bills, but it's really just part of the upkeep of equipment and I think a lot of people seem to not understand that this is a business that needs to make a profit. When I drop equipment off, it's serviced at a price that is fair and when it's fixed, it's always my experience that it has been fixed correctly. Another reason I tend to support this business is the customer service provided by the owner, Scott. Scott always does a good job telling it how it is... some people wont like that, but straightforwardness is important to me in business(even when it isn't something I want to hear) He will recommend equipment that is of better caliber, not because it is more expensive, but because it is worth the extra expense.
A couple of years ago when I was only using one walk behind mower in my business, it was in need of a new motor and several other repairs that I couldn't justify. The mower was on it's way out and I didn't have the money for a new walk behind and I honestly didn't have the credit to finance one. I couldn't afford repairs because I had just been royally screwed over by another mechanic. Scott personally financed a used walk behind that he had at the shop, he gave me a great deal on what has been a very reliable machine, and he did so simply based on my word that I would repay the value of the mower.
I might not be in business today without that mower and because of that generosity, I take all of my mowers there for repair and also plan to buy equipment from eureka rental in the future.
The only thing I would change about Eureka rental would be the turn around on equipment repairs, which sometimes can't be helped when parts that are on order take time to get there.
Thanks to Scott and his crew for keeping my wheels turning and...
