Tommy's Tackle BOX — Local services in Eustace

I called looking for minnows and was 30 mins away. No one answered. They called back which I thought was a nice touch.

They told me they had a few left plus goldfish. I asked if you could used goldfish to fish? They said yes. So I told them I'll take a dozen minnows and a dozen gold fish, they said they would hold. Again a nice touch.

I arrived and went inside and no one there. Saw a note that said they went to store to get coffee and would be back. I was impressed by the inside. Very clean and organized. I waited maybe 10 mins and called and they answered. Told them I was here to which they said I'm sorry I'm next door and will be right over. They did.

The person said "ok so you want them all?" To which I said "no just 2 dozen" and they got upset that they turned others away for me. I told them I'm sorry they misunderstood.

Got my minnows and goldfish and left. I was about to start fishing I thought maybe I should Google to see if it is legal to fish with goldfish.

Turns out it's not!

They sold me illegal live bait and I was out a few bucks and time. Nice shop, friendly people, bad knowledge...

The last 2 times at Tommy's has been bad. This time being my 3rd time here. I bought 1 dozen gold fish. I saw employee deep for the gold fish. And I saw the gold fish gi into the bag. But, then I started talking with another fisher that came in. I just grab the bags and left. When I reach my fishing location. I looked there was 1 gold fish. And the other 11 was huge minnows/ sinners. They didn't have bagged ice. I use to live in Eustace. I never could catch them open. Now, the store is stock from the floor to the roof with fishing tackle. And it is very pricey. I don't believe I'll be go back. Strike 3 your out. I am giving them 3 stars because the time listed online is not the same times that they are open. We drove out to fish at Purtis Creek and we planned to stop here. We looked online to make sure we would make it in time. We showed up at 4:55 and it was already closed. Three other customers came right behind us too. Online it says it closes at 6pm.
