Food Lion — Local services in Exmore

Produce is good, BUT prices not good at all. Lot of sale items never in stock. They have sales papers with items on sale and you go in to shop and in 2-3 days they are out of right many items, yes you can get Rain Checks but the point is how do you not order enough or at least a large enough order to last more than couple days. After store renovations prices went up and limited variety & selection of items to chose from. Food Lion is the only grocery store in this area other than Walmart and it (for me) is 20 minutes away. Shopping at Food Lion is not a pleasure at all any more. There are a lot of items people in this area enjoy eating that Food Lion don't even stock. Again their prices are outrageous BUT we have no choice. There are times doing the day on certain days every week when the store is at it's busiest which is a regular here they don't have enough workers on the register, long lines and waiting. I use to work there and they have very nice people that work there BUT this store has a few with very nasty attitudes (one particularly) NO ONE GETS ALONG WITH NOT EVEN CUSTOMERS!!!! Fantastic staff and funny too. KICKER AT THE END. First I shopped then at checkout I had 15 items in the 12 item line but to my defence I did have three gallons of water and two Bigelow tea boxes , they should count as one each. And since GodsRV dcom and I are traveling we needed to fill our 15 gallon water tank I knew they had spickets as they called em, I call it a faucet so asking to use it was a bit of a language barrier I'm in VA how far north am I? they even called my shopping buggy a cart? What? But the manager was so nice to call another manager to help me, the spigot or spicket key did not work so he went to his car for channel lock plyers, above and beyond. Very Very nice store. The cashiers are very poorly trained. We are constantly being overcharged & groceries purchased are missing causing us to have to go back to the store with our receipts. At least one cashier ran after me this week with a bag of groceries she had omitted to hand over to me!!! Don’t they check????? They are too busy chatting to other customers & fellow employees. Also why don’t they have the Express checkout open during peak shopping hours???? Some people just need to rush in & out with an item or two & are forced to wait in long lines!!! It’s a pity that this is the only grocery store...
