Sunrise Pizzeria 2002 — Restaurant in Exmore

For those who haven't tried the food yet or have but werent satisfied, the pepperonis and sausages and everything are all beef. The owner can't eat pork so he doesn't sell it. Beef pepperonis, beef sausage, turkey bacon, and the ham is probably turkey but COULD be pork (probably not). Also, the gas station part is not the restaurant. They're run by different people and have different employees and seperate management. It's called "sunrise sonoco" because the owner of the pizzeria rents the whole building but only runs the restaurant. The pizza is good there because rather than bland, smeared tomatos, the sauce is a nice, sweet marinara but not so sweet it's like it has had a pound of sugar dumped into it. Its made with sweet tomatoes. The portions on the dinner menu are quite large but that's good for the leftovers (if you're not starving or sharing and just want food for right then, id go for kids menu). The pizza dough is made fresh everyday and then refrigerated to be used that day. They actually have a big standmixer with a giant dough hook and they make a ton of dough that they then spread into square pans, large pans, and medium pans. The soups are made fresh everyday as well. The fish and shrimp are frozen but luckily, we do have fresh crab which is very very good. Never frozen, whenever you order crab cakes, crab balls, stuffed chicken or whatever else, the crab is formed and fried right then. The pizza dough is vegan friendly (of course) and the oil used is canola. The pizza customization is endless. Thin crush, thick crust, light sauce, extra sauce, and tons and tons and tons more. Order takers can even write special requests for you such as "half thin crust, half regular" or "not too much sauce but not light". Sunrise isn't terrible, its just that when stress rises due to 1,000,000 orders at once, it can sometimes get to you just alittle bit but we do strive for customer satisfaction. Also, about the coupon confussion. We dont honor coupons for delivery because we have no way of knowing if you actually have it. Just the other week an employee honored a 20% off coupon for a delivery order but when the food was delivered, they had no coupon. So, we tend to keep that a pickup...

I will be genuinely honest, my previous review for this place would have been one star if I could. But that was solely from the previous manager of this place. He was very rude and had no empathy. My one star review stood for years telling about how awful he was. The food quality was not great at that time. I'd had many problems with my order that he wouldn't even attempt to fix, which was extremely upsetting when you are paying for food. Instead, you, the customer, would get disrespected.

HOWEVER.

Recently, this place got new management, new bosses who run the place, and they are amazing. The food quality has changed dramatically since the previous manager, and that is a huge step in the right direction. The service is so much better now since those people got the place. I can now order the same exact foods from the menu I'd tried previously and the quality is now completely different, and it's crazy how much of a difference it is. The cheese is stringy, the chicken is perfect, the salads are fresh. I had actually stopped ordering from here because of that manager before, I would avoid this place like the plague because of bad service. Now, I encourage every local or otherwise who is doing the same, to at least give Sunrise another try.

I wouldn't be changing that previous review if I wasn't as truly as impressed as I am. As of writing this review, August 1st, they are still getting a hang of everything and training employees but I can promise you that this place is better than Harvest Diner and the food is great! I recommend their pizza (duh!), quesadillas, philly cheese steaks, or belly...

We placed an order and it was 2 strawberry cheesecake and 2 blueberry and we get 4 strawberry cheesecake. And the recipient was 2 strawberry cheesecake and 2 blueberry cheesecake and we called and the manager that was on at 8:22 pm hung the phone up when we called and the person who took order was Ashley. The receipt said exactly what we ordered and they told us to come get it and when we ordered it was for delivery I hope the owner knows what going on.I am going to call better business berurl on Monday!!!!!!! My suggestion would be to never order from there again.The do have great baked zitty but I quit ordering from them because they are the ones that messed up the order and I know where we lived it the place messed up order they would honor it and bring us what we ordered free. Sunday I talked to manager and she check into it and called me back and said do you still have 2 strawberry cheesecake and my answer was I threw them away and she said there is nothing she can do.
