My experience with Taylor's is so beyond "excellent" - I can hardly express my gratitude to this wonderful, family-owned operation. I found THE PERFECT engagement ring on Pinterest but of course it was an Old European cut, vintage ring circa 1920 and had already sold at auction. We live in Cordova so my husband researched the closest, reputable place to build a ring and found an establishment in Anchorage, who I will not name. After scouring the diamond market, they located one stone that fit his specifications and with crystal clear instructions, including multiple photos, they agreed to make it. When they finished it was exactly what he had asked that it NOT be. With the money he had invested, we were incredulous that they refused to fix it, especially because it seemed that the "fix" would be fairly simple. I wore the ring as-is for about a month but daily I was so sad that it was not what I'd wanted and what he'd paid extremely good money for. I am from Fairbanks so when I went up to visit my parents, I stopped into Taylor's and Glenn listened to my sob story and said he felt very confident that they could make the alteration. Joe came out and also did an assessment and agreed. They took it on the spot since I was going back home soon and the next morning they had it completely transformed into the stunning, heirloom ring that we'd been hoping for from day one! Not that cost was the objective, because I was willing to pay a fair amount, but they were incredibly reasonable on price as well. I so dearly wish we'd started with them to begin with. We did buy our wedding bands there, and they were incredible to deal with again. Mine included alterations in style and they were made exactly as I'd imagined and as we discussed. Since that experience, I look at my hand and my beautiful ring and am so incredibly grateful for their help. They are wonderful people who truly care about their customers. Taylor's is consistently the best jewelry store in town! They mine a lot of their stones locally within Alaska, which makes their pieces even more unique and special. My family has been shopping here for 3 generations, and have never had a negative experience. My engagement ring came from Taylor's, and is a constant source of compliments (and pride, as the stone in it was mined in Alaska!). The folks who work there will go above and beyond to get you the perfect piece, will answer your questions, show immense patience if you aren't sure of what you're looking for, help with warranty questions, check in on your satisfaction of your purchase after the fact, and they send Christmas cards and even little gifts out to customers. On top of all of that, seeing them volunteering and working at community events in town just solidifies that you are supporting a company that supports our community. I came to them with a request for a specific ring with 2-3 days notice (I went in assuming it wouldn't be ready in time for our event since it was a last minute project) and they got the stone ordered, cut, and placed in a ring in time for us to present it at our event. I absolutely LOVE me some Taylor’s Gold n Stones! Nothings better than to walk into an establishment where they are passionate about what they do, what they have and what they sell. Everyone at Taylor’s is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and personable. They have an amazing selection of pearls, specialty gems, gold nuggets, a sprinkle of black hills gold, AND last but not least DIAMONDS AND WEDDING RINGS. My favorite is their diamond “program” (not sure if that’s what it’s called?) IF you buy your diamond from them, then when all your years of anniversaries come around you can trade your diamond in for an upgrade! Unlike box stores it doesn’t have to be double what you paid......... I believe it’s only $1 dollar more! So you can trade in in smaller increments to make those anniversaries extra special! Taylor’s also mines and stocks their own soft pink blush stones!
