There was an indie release that I couldn’t find showtimes for anywhere close by, and I remembered that Cinema Arts showed a lot of obscure titles you might not see at the chain theaters. I hadn’t been since I was a kid when my grandmother would take me here when I’d visit her during the holiday season. I loved how nostalgic it felt then. I’m now a young adult living in the area, and I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit here. It feels like a hidden treasure of NOVA- it’s movie going the way it used to be. The seats may not be upgraded, but you don’t need all the bells and whistles when you’re sucked into the magic of the films shown here. Tickets and concessions are priced super fairly, too. I’ll make sure to remember Cinema Arts next time I’m on the hunt for a specific indie flick, and I hope other folks in the area do, too. Read moreI have visited this theater a few times to see independent films not usually shown at bigger chains. In the corner of a strip mall, this place happens to be a relatively easy and quiet place to watch a movie. Prices are quite reasonable, as matinee showings have been $11 and prime time showings a few dollars extra. The aesthetics and appearance may be on the more plain side (e.g, the seats have tape on the armrests showing seat numbers), but the area regularly looks clean and well maintained. The seats feel comfortable and rock back slightly without reclining. I observed the concession staff to be friendly and very engaging with customers, coming close to a neighborhood feel. Sound quality in two theaters in which I sat was very good with no spillover noise from adjacent theaters as one would expect. I will definitely keep this theater on my list when I see an independent film...
Read moreSimply put - FAIRFAX CINEMA ARTS is my favorite movie theatre!! Best prices for both tickets and concessions. Smaller, intimate setting - no long lines. You can always find parking. Great popcorn (I love the "white cheddar" topping). You can choose ice cream or non-fat yogurt in your Smoothie - my fave is Cappuccino with non-fat yogurt. You can also get hummus with pita points, sandwiches, gourmet coffees, candy and cookies. AND, best of all, the owner, Mark O'Meara, wants to know what movies YOU want him to get - so sometimes he will be standing at the front of the theatre, and we rate the trailers by clapping and cheering...or not. (And, you may find him personally filling up your popcorn bucket...free of charge.) When I want to see a movie - I don't think "What movie do I want to see?" I say "Let's see what's playing at Fairfax Cinema Arts!!" A Forever Fan -...
