Montrose Animal Health Center — Local services in Fairfax

I don't have enough words to say how much I appreciate and recommend Montrose Animal Health Center and especially Dr. Texiara. I took my dog there a few months ago and he was diagnosed with Lyme disease. Not a real big deal....some antibiotics, etc.... and all would be good. BUT-He ended up with a very rare disorder called Lymn Nephritis - Fatal!. He was going down hill fast. Dr. Texiara recognized this and did everything her power to help the situation. She mentioned high priced (thousands of dollars) options but was so very reasonable about their long term success. She never made me feel guilty if I didn't chose those options. Supportive, communicative, helpful, always ready to talk on the phone. She even gave me, among the mediations that she put him on, several that were donated, saving me a bundle. Long story short, my pup has made an incredible and miraculous recovery. Dr. Texiara even calls occasional, on her own, just to see how he's doing. As I said, the level of support, an understanding of financial realities and just a real sense of caring not only for the pet but also the owner as they go through difficult times is amazing. I...

Brand new dog owner. First time to the vet with my new 9month old pup. The most lackluster initial checkup experience in which my pet was (understandably) uncomfortable. As such, I literally had to pick up my dog and contain her on my own for the scale & examination table for what seemed to be the most useless, 2 second "checkup". I received no information and/or advice as a new pet owner and had to put in 90% of the effort just for the honor of paying $85 for the experience....

Very disappointed.

I don't even blame them for being unable to calm my dog but I've met Petco employees that have done a better job at that..... Additionally, I would have expected more advice, tips, suggestions on pet care based on the fact that I made it clear that I'm a brand new dog owner.... I've received better care advice from people at dog parks!

All in all, it felt like a massive waste of money and time in which they provided the MINIMAL amount in terms of service, I received nothing in terms of knowledge/advice, and I had to put in 90% of the effort....... In short, I should've got paid for that experience, not the other...

Let me start by saying that our frequent visits to this vet are not the vet's fault. My dog has just had a rough go this last year and our move to Virginia has not been kind to her.

Dr. Stacy is fantastic. When she calls to talk to us about our dog, I feel like I'm talking to someone who deeply cares about my dog. She is honest and provides educational information. I truly feel like she listens to me and that she values my opinion on my dog. I also feel like she is reasonable in how we've been charged and has tried to save us money where she can.

The staff is also fantastic. They have been great with our very anxious dog and have always been sweet to her. They are friendly and fast. If they have a bad day on the job, you wouldn't ever know it.

We have been incredibly happy with this vet. I trust Dr. Stacy's opinion and she has referred out when it has been beyond her expertise. We are very happy with Montrose Animal Health Center and highly recommend them to others. Two...
