Fajardo's Walmart isn't as crowded as so many others here on the island. For example, I refuse to go near the Toa Baja store. No matter the time of day, Toa Baja's Walmart is a nightmare. Don't even attempt to go anywhere near that area around 4:30 - 7:00 pm ... unless you have patience to spare and enjoy sitting in traffic. When I lived in Dorado I avoided that Walmart like the plague. But, this isn't about THAT Walmart. This review is about Fajardo's Walmart. Best time to go to this Walmart is early morning weekday, preferably Monday. However, it's easier to maneuver through while most ppl are eating dinner or burnt out from beach activities. If you don't have to go on the wknds, don't do it! If you must...Friday eve two hours before closing isn't too bad. The good thing is self-checkout moves fairly well. Cashier lines can be long and frustrating.
*For tourists: I recommend bringing recyclable shopping bags. Don't throw away bags from previous excursions. You should include shopping bags whilst packing for your visit to Puerto Rico. Unlike the States (and the mainland should be so wise), if you don't bring your own bags, you will have to purchase every bag. Puerto Rico's plastic bag ban went into effect in 2017. Plastic bags CAN & SHOULD be used more than once. As in most of my reviews, I'm here to tell you that I love this island with a passion that consumes me. Recycling plastic bags is EVERYTHING! As a tortuga volunteer, I spend countless hours picking up trash on our beautiful beaches. I get so frustrated but I do it! Endangered, nesting adult turtles shouldn't have to crawl over human filth enroute to nesting ground. Hatchlings are already faced with the struggle to survive. It breaks my heart to watch these tiny beauties navigating over trash as they race to the sea. Sea turtles can not distinguish plastic bags from jellyfish. PLEASE RECYCLE BAGS!! Sorry. I managed to turn a Walmart review into another rambling public plea about littering. 🙄 I mean it when I say I'm passionate about this island! No matter...wherever you live or visit, do your best to dispose of trash. If you showed up at the beach, sat in a clean spot and enjoyed the beauty of nature — be respectful. Don't be a goop! It's not gonna kill you to pick it up and toss in a can. Or...put it in your car. I mean, really? Ya can't just keep it in there until ya get home? True story: I witnessed A CHILD giving mami & papi a serious scolding for leaving filth on the beach... at a prestigious beach resort. Well done, Baby Girl! I wanna be you when I grow up.
If you're still here for this long-winded review, God bless you. Lemme wrap this up. Fajardo Walmart is located in Plaza Fajardo. Sometimes stock is low, especially since Covid. Also, Walmart isn't the cheapest place to shop in PR. Some things, yes! Some items...yikes. Overall, this Walmart gets the job done. It isn't a Walmart Supercenter but does offer online shopping and pickup Customer service is always friendly to me. It's clean. Don't forget your mask...or those bags! If you're looking for beach items on the way to day trips to Icacos, Culebra, etc. — this Walmart is well equipped with beach supplies and offers an assortment of floats, sunscreen, tanning oil, bathing suits & cover-ups.(not a large selection) I did find the cutest black, short-sleeved, hoody cover-up that can be worn as casual wear. Best $20 I've spent all week! Snorkeling gear available, too. *If you're headed out on a guided snorkeling tour, you might want to bring your own gear. Several of the tour excursions aren't allowed to provide snorkel gear bcuz of Covid. The guides sell the gear around $25. Keep that in mind.
I realize there's A LOT of info in a review pertaining to Walmart. Just want to be helpful, especially to those...

Read moreI've called this 24 hour store 9 days and only gotten through one day. 5 days the phone system was broken so when I pressed any of the options, it went to a busy signal (repeat beeping). 4 days it rang and rang and nobody picked up. Many of those days I was calling to find out if it was open or not before I drove over there. Not getting through on the phone, three of the days I drove over any way and found it closed two of the three times at about 9pm. It's supposed to be a 24 hour Walmart, but they ignore that and close haphazardly when they feel like it. Since I can't reach anyone on the phone and don't want to spend my time and gas money to drive to a store that might be closed when they're supposed to be open, I instead drive to the Amigo grocery store in Luquillo, the Walgreens 24 hour pharmacy, the Sears and the Best Buy and get the things I would have bought at Walmart. The prices are almost the same, and while not everything is in one store, at least at those stores, a person nearly always answers the phone during business hours and they never close during the hours they're supposed to be open so I don't waste my...
