Aura Diamonds is hands down the best jeweler in Dallas-Fort Worth. I was referred to Mitch and Gary by a co-worker who had an amazing experience himself, and I'll forever be grateful to him for that. When it came time for me to propose to my soon-to-be wife, I knew I had to find a jeweler that made me feel comfortable with what I was purchasing and boy did Aura Diamonds deliver.
The process begins with a full lesson about diamonds starting with the four C's. Mitch will take you step by step through cut, color, clarity, and carat. The lesson is complete with diagrams, color charts, and even a professional jewelers microscope so that you can view the loose diamonds for yourself with insane precision - all this so you actually understand what the heck is going on. Let's be honest, barely anybody knows anything about a diamond except the carat weight. I guarantee after an hour with Mitch, you will feel like a diamond expert. You'll be able to know what a 1.68 G SI2 diamond is, or a .75 J SI1. I mean, think about it, you wouldn't buy a car without knowing the horsepower, top speed, and gas mileage, would you? You should thoroughly understand everything about a piece of jewelry that will live on your spouse's finger until death do you part.
Next, Mitch will have a discovery session with you to determine what style setting you prefer. The sky is literally the limit here! The team at Aura Diamonds have created hundreds of rings of all variety and they can create anything your mind can conjure up, or even replicate a ring you already love. My fiance had found an amazing vintage 1910's Edwardian ring on Brilliant Earth. We brought that ring design to Mitch and discussed small changes we wanted. This is your time to get creative and create a custom design that truly speaks to you and your spouse! Aura Diamonds can make anything. Don't worry though if you're not a designer, Mitch can guide you through the process so that your ring is technically accurate and stylish. Mitch even helped me create my ring based off my fiance's ring and it came out amazing.
Next, Mitch will have a 3D render created of your ring so you can see your vision and determine if you want any further changes. Their whole desire at Aura is to deliver what you want, and as you can see there are many steps in the process to ensure it comes out perfect!
After you sign off on the design, Mitch's talented jeweler will create your heirloom quality piece of jewelry. I truly mean heirloom quality here! I truly, truly do! Your ring will last a lifetime. If there's a major accident and your ring gets damaged, Mitch will repair it. The team really does have your back.
A couple weeks later, you will have your custom created piece of jewelry in your hands, complete in a beautiful ring box. Every detail is truly thought of, from the moment you meet the team, through the time you leave his building beaming ear to ear.
In addition to the amazing product you will receive, it will come at an extremely fair pricepoint. Aura Diamonds deals in wholesale, and they pass the savings on to you. Honestly at times I wondered why they didn't mark up their products more, since the quality and service were top notch. Their honesty and character is the framework for how the conduct business, and I can promise you that you will feel extremely comfortable doing business with them.
I got both my and my fiance's ring from Aura, and we are...
Read moreFor a diamond engagement ring in Dallas, Aura diamonds should be your first stop. I was looking for a very specific engagement ring -- a large (3ct+), blue cushion cut diamond in a bezel setting, and went to quite a few other jewelers in DFW before being referred to Aura Diamonds (by someone who also purchased an engagement ring here). The other jewelers I visited basically caused me nothing but frustration.
The problem was that blue diamonds are extremely rare -- especially in large carat weights, and they're all a bit different in color. I can without a doubt say no jeweler in Dallas has ever made an engagement ring like this. In fact, because of their rarity, no one outside of NYC keeps these diamonds in stock, so making my engagement ring would mean ordering many diamonds to Dallas to look at in person.
Instead of finding these diamonds for me, other jewelers (who all came highly recommended by friends or google) tried to steer me to clear diamonds. That wasn't going to work, as the engagement ring and diamond color were all planned with my girlfriend before I went shopping. All but one other jeweler simply refused to look for a blue diamond for my engagement ring.
After meeting with Mitch at Aura Diamonds, he found more than a dozen suitable diamonds for my engagement ring, and ordered many in so we could inspect the color together. Despite having expenses involved in getting these diamonds to his store, he put no pressure on me once they came in -- something I really respected.
Further, because of staycation plans, our timeline was insanely rushed. From the first time I went to Aura Diamonds, it only took them nine days to deliver me a custom, extremely complex engagement ring.
Because of the difficulty of bezel setting a large diamond, it took them 13 different casting attempts before they got a perfect gold casting for the ring -- yet they were still able to deliver my finished ring on time. Aura even offered to deliver the ring to my location, because even though my girlfriend knew about the engagement ring, I was trying to surprise her with the timing of the proposal. They were literally working on the ring the morning of the day I proposed!
The week after my proposal, Gary, the other owner of Aura Diamonds called to ask how the proposal went and make sure my fiancé was happy with the ring and that it properly fit. Mitch had already been in contact via text.
Also, the ring appraised for WAY more than I paid for it... and the appraising jeweler seemed beside himself with the quality of the diamond, setting and overall ring. That's hard to be upset about.
If you're a business person like myself, and want to be treated with respect when you're shopping for an engagement ring, not emotionally manipulated like you're buying a used car, I'd really suggest giving these guys a shot. They knocked it out of the park for me and truly made a ridiculously difficult transaction painless... and my fiancé couldn't be happier...
Read moreI have refrained from making this review for almost three years now, but decided to finally speak on my experiences—
In 2022 I ordered a custom ring. The ring itself was great, the renders and photos were perfect. It wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but it was a gorgeous ring nonetheless.
Something that should have been telling of how my experience would be was when the jeweler kept confusing me with other customers throughout the entire process. Every call, I had to remind the jeweler of my name and my ring, as he’d start talking about the ring and making comments that made no sense because he thought I was someone else.
Upon receiving the ring, the main stone was loose, and within 10 days— one of the small diamonds on the band had fallen out.
We sent it back to be fixed, I was understanding and had a “stuff happens” kind of attitude. We were elated at the quality of the ring, so we weren’t in bad spirits about it.
Then came the second major issue, the ring was sent to back to the wrong customer. The jeweler mixed me up with someone else and delayed the ring being returned and we were worried we’d even get it back in the first place.
We finally got the ring back and we were hoping we wouldn’t have to face any issues again. Then about 2 months later, another diamond fell out of the band.
Once again, we send it off for repair. Upon returning the ring, the jeweler then confused my name with another customer on the return label— the address was correct, but the name was incorrect as was the amount of insurance paid for with the mailing. I caught this immediately because he emailed me the shipping label so I could track it, but it was already too late— it had been sent.
We got the ring back for the second time, and not even 2 months later another diamond fell out. At this point we don’t even want to deal with them and so we didn’t send it back. I would rather pay another jeweler to fix the ring properly than send it back for this to happen again. (Full transparency, we have yet to send it to anyone else to be fixed, but that’s the attitude I still maintain in the matter)
I’ve held off writing a review because I honestly didn’t want to spend any more time thinking of how much money I spent on the custom ring & band + all the stress it has caused me for these shipping errors taking place. That was until a month ago when yet another diamond fell out.
All of that to say— the ring itself is gorgeous, the work is great, but I would not recommend this business to anyone I know. Maybe if they were local I would have more peace about it, but even then— I shouldn’t have to regularly repair a ring I paid thousands upon thousands of dollars on.
I’m sure my experience is just incredibly bad luck, and that they do great work and great customer service— this was just not my...
