There was an older salesman that waited on my mother today. Having purchased items from them Poulston TV & Appliance in Farmville, VA, in the past, I referred my mother to them to replace her kitchen range. My son and I even came because it is a smalltown business with limited Covid exposure potential. Also, I thought they would take great care of her.
When questioned about the updated safety mechanism on the stove, he refused to answer the question in a manner in which was understandable, requiring my mother to have to rephrase her question multiple times only to get the same answer, not even rewording and ruder each time. Unless you have the opportunity to purchase appliances frequently, new safety measures get added. If a customer has a question about the updated safety mechanism, the salesman should try to explain it. Maybe the customer needs the answer reworded but stating the same answer twice does nothing.
When asked about a vented range hood, the gentlemen stated they were low in stock but showed her an open box. He pulled the open box from behind the counter but did not even offer to pull it out or show an image of the item.
When asking about possible delivery, my mother was told, "Everybody wants everything delivered, even a microwave. Nobody wants to get a truck and do it themselves anymore." I'm sorry, every woman can manipulate an appliance by themselves into their home? It was to my understanding that if you purchase a product, like a kitchen range, and your store offers delivery, it isn't unfair or unusual for a customer to request it.
Instead, this man humiliated her. I was shocked, embarrassed, and disappointed. I was applauded for his rudeness. He continued to belittle her versus answering her questions. Not once did I see him make eye contact with her. I am so glad my son was with us. Otherwise, I may not have been as polite and quiet. I will never shop...
Read moreFirst class operation!! I suddenly found myself in need of a washing machine and went on a search to find the best deal. There are a few chain stores in town where I could have saved money on the basic machine. Yet when I added in delivery charges (Poulston's doesn't charge), installment options which some don't do (Poulston's includes in delivery), the cost of hoses (Poulston's includes at no charge), it was a no brainers to do business with Poulston's! In addition to these perks, Poulston's also provides their own service provider should my machine need a repair....not an 800 number where I have to fend for myself.
And here is the best part of my experience: Jennifer is one of the sales associates. When I told her I was needing to replace my 15+ year old washer, she suggested I try to repair my old one as washers have changed significantly in the last 10 years. She said it may be worth the cost of the repair in order to keep my trusty old machine adding it would take some adjustment to enjoy a new washer!! This advice from someone selling washing machines!! Doubt the chain store sales people would have made this suggestion. When I came to the store to decide on a washer, Jennifer thoroughly reviewed the pros and cons of each one. I am beyond impressed and grateful for her help and can't wait to get my washer....delivered free less than 48 hours after purchase.
Poulston Appliances is an example of how to run a consumer friendly,...
Read moreThe older man was very rude on the phone. I told him about my washing machine, the water wasn't coming out and my clothes are still in there. Can he send someone out. The man told me if I have common sense I would take the clothes out. Then he ask did I have money to pay someone to come out. I know it's a business and you have to pay for services. I don't know if he was having a bad day, but I didn't appreciate that at all. I never had such rude disrespectful service. Someone needs to teach him some...
