Fast, clean, great bargains and coupons, fast cashiers, really clean bathrooms.
They have a surprising amount of organic and gluten free products!
It seems they have started carrying import products from European countries so not only are prices often better, but you can find products that are a little something different than the usual.
A fun touch- they often order and stock products in "themes." For example, a few months ago they started carrying a collection of foods that went well together in a "brats and other BBQ food" theme.
It makes shopping for later cooking easier.
I would give that final star if:
Like with every single Aldi's I've shopped at, you MUST check any fresh produce that is saran wrapped onto a styrofoam tray, or in a plastic clamshell package. Half the time, there is soft damaged spots, mold, or other mushy-ness happening on at least some of the food. Tomatoes and any of the berries are "repeat offenders" on this.
Everything bagged or loose in boxes is nearly always fine or even great quality. Bagged broccoli, cauliflower, grapes... all fine.
It's only stuff in styrofoam trays or boxes, with clear plastic wrap over it. Everything else in the store is great. And I'm a notoriously...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store is an example for ALDIs. It carries great variety and prices on store brand items are excellent. Like any store, produce quality varies, but when it looks good it is delicious! Some items have gone up to adjust with the rest of the market (farm good mostly) but they are competitive with super-chains. You wonāt save money on commercial brands, like soda, yet they carry basics brands and everything you want and more in store brand. Backed by a no questions asked refund on in-store purchases (with returned product and receipt), Iām much more likely to try their brand and see if itās good enough. Sometimes, itās better! Many frozen meals and refrigerated pre-packed entrees, the cheese selection is extensive. Fairly priced specialty items. Iāve had a few bad apples buying the 10lb potatoes or fresh meat, so I just donāt get them there anymore. Thatās my main critique. Be aware if you enter the weekly/seasonal isles of stuff youāre likely to get more than you came for, but those items are usually good quality, too. Snacks, pantry items, kitchen products, dairy, wine/beer and sparkling water, cereal⦠your money goes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAldi's is an excellent grocery option, particularly for the budget conscious. You can frequently find great deals on conventional and organic produce. The selection of organic produce is limited but the price is much lower than what you would find at other grocers.
Some of the specific items I buy here are organic hummus (which is both excellent and inexpensive), organic apple juice (super inexpensive), & European chocolate. Their chocolate is about half what you would pay for quality chocolate at most places, typically 1.49-2.49 for a 4-7oz. bar. And it's awesome. The Choceur brand is my favorite there. It's crazy good.
They've also got fantastic organic salsa for only around 2.49 or so. Great deal.
Parking is easy but getting back out into traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Is rough. I'd suggest coming at off times when possible. If that isn't good for you, you can turn right, turn left into the Lowe's far parking lot, turn around and leave again by turning right....
