I am at a crossroads on how to write this review because it is a mix of good and bad. And we got there an hour before they were going to close, so that might have been the factor as to why the food quality was not as good as we have known it to be. It was my birthday and we didn't plan to go out to eat anywhere because our original plan was to eat at the place where we went for karaoke, but their kitchen was backed up and they could not push our order through and our server had to cancel our order. It's a Friday night everywhere is busy and we're pressed for time since we happened to be around the area we decided and choose Typhoon. We first discovered Typhoon Authentic restaurant when we moved here to NWA in 2019 they were the first place we tried and we were so satisfied and pleased with the food and service. We came back after COVID and they had made some changes and we were still somewhat satisfied. Their machine/ robot server got some getting used to. We had not been back in a while, I say it had probably been a year since our last visit. And we raved about this restaurant to our friends so we decided to go there, out of all the places in Fayetteville. Our order was as follows, Three orders of Bahn Mi Slider one with Beef, Pork, Chicken, Typhoon Pho, Vermicelli beef with tofu, and our friends got chicken lo mein and Bahn Mi Sandwich. So I do not know what has happened with the quality of food and their service at the front counter when placing your orders, they try to be a little bit more welcoming and pleasant. Now for the food part, it is pretty obvious they skimmed out on their fresh condiments in the Sliders and my Vermicelli Bowl was completely different from the last time I ordered, the noodles were not the same and I did not get the fish sauce that you poured into the dish and presentation of how they placed the food there was no love. It felt like they were saying to us here you go, now hurry up and eat the food so you can get out of here. Or like I really don't feel like trying and I don't care but here it is. And the Pho was not the same. Not sure if they had to make some adjustments with food brands and products due to the cost of everything because of the economy and due to inflation. Aside from that, I will praise them for having the machine/robot server singing Happy Birthday. That was nice. I do hope that the restaurant owner and cooks will remember how to bring back the same quality of food from my first visit there with them. Get back to having that flare, passion, and drive for good quality food and authentic flavor. Start back from the beginning. I HOPE they take into consideration what I am saying. I wish you and your...
Read moreWe have dined at this restaurant many times. We've tried several different dishes. One night I ordered the "Stir Fry" with shrimp for $8.50. They asked me what base I wanted, so I told them lomein noodles. The dish came out with big tail shrimp. The next time I ordered the "Stir Fry" with shrimp again, I asked for rice as the base. That was the only difference. When I got the dish I was disappointed to find the cheap teeny, tiny salad shrimp that you would find on a chef salad or something. Not at all like the last "Stir Fry" dish. I didn't feel like I got what I paid for. When I talked with the restaurant owner I was told "yes, we do use smaller shrimp size for the fried rice comparing to any other stir fried dish." (It says nothing like that on the menu) The owner continued by stating "We NEVER change the size shrimp on the fried rice. If we was at fault, I have no problem or hesitate crediting you back. If we had used the big size shrimp for the fried rice previous and change it to smaller size than, yes, that misleading. But we had NEVER done that." How would someone know that the shrimp in the "Stir Fry" dish would change depending on the base/starch? It says NOTHING about that on the menu. The fact that the other dishes have the larger shrimp, it should be safe to assume that unless stated otherwise, this dish would have that same shrimp. The average customer would be expecting the same kind of shrimp with the "Stir Fry" regardless of the base. I asked them if they would give me a credit to come back and get a "Stir Fry" with the larger shrimp but the owner refused. We spent on average $30 per visit and tipped very well. The fact that the owner is not willing to give a credit for the salad shrimp dish just tells me that they don't appreciate a good, regular customer. I guess we will be taking our business elsewere. Maybe Pho Thanh II or...
Read moreCame super hungry after a hike to celebrate a friend's anniversary. Ordered at the counter so you pay your tip before you get your food and service, which both was lacking. Had to walk to counter multiple times to ask about a missing order and garnish.
Our friend ordered vegan fried rice and immediately tasted eggs in his order. The kitchen would not remake his dish without the taste of eggs and kept insisting they didn't add eggs and I later asked the cashier if they could have possibly cooked it in the same wok without washing it and the guy basically said they only had 1 wok. They returned his dish and said if he wanted something else he would have to pay for it, so my friend who is sensitive to the taste of eggs told them to keep the dish and no remediation was made even after I told them we were celebrating his anniversary.
By the way if you have a party of more than 8, you cannot sit together because they don't know how to accommodate and serve a party bigger than that. And since we paid on the same tab we were basically serving ourselves when the appetizers and drinks we ordered was delivered by a cat bot and delivered to 1 table and we were passing food to the other table ourselves. For an experienced restaurant they could have sent the cat bot and still had someone unloading all the drinks and food and serve it to the right tables since a 20% tip was given.
The coconut mixed bean and jelly desserts was lacking, some ingredients listed were missing and the cup was partially filled, but was charged full price.
The large pho is a joke, same amount of filling as the regular with just extra broth to make it look full and the garnish is same size as regular, any extra you have to pay for.
Finally the 20% tip included the $21 tax and then charged a credit card fee of basically $8 and they do not bother...
