The customer service was great! The guys were chill, helpful, and polite. However, my friend and I came in to buy a new PS3 on-brand controller. It was $40. I also bought a DS game for $30.
I am vehemently disappointed.
The controller had sticky buttons- so bad that the square button wouldn't even lift up half the time! I did not think to check because I trusted that they would hand me sound equipment. I didn't mind this so much but when I went to fix it for my friend the top three screws were stripped so there was no way I could get into the interior to fix the issue (the surface was sticky-free). If that wasn't bad enough the right analogue stick was crushed on the inside. It would get stuck in such a way it wouldn't be able to turn a full half arch- something was broken loose inside it. Any game in first-person perspective would be next to impossible to play.
On TOP OF THAT, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, the DS game, which I was super excited about (and had looked for ages for!), didn't even show up on my 3DS's menu. I looked it up to make sure it was playable on 3DS (even though every DS game I own plays fine on the 3DS). I pulled it out, cleaned it, put it back in. Nothing. Then I took it out and heard a sound... I shook it again and it sounded like the entire interior of the cartridge was disconnected or something. I checked my other DS games- no similarities.
I know they have the 24-hour warranty, etc, but selling broken merchandise not only wasted my time but it was also downright deceitful! I'm not spending my money here again at this Game X Change. It's too risky. If you do spend money here make sure you have plenty of time to thoroughly check out the...
Read moreI was (possibly knowingly) sold an incorrect copy of a game (correct game but did not include the dlc that was supposed to be on the edition I bought). After finally finishing the game and heading to the dlc I realized their mistake, as there was no dlc and they sold me a vanilla copy for the complete edition price. When I explained this the general manager said it was personally his fault, proceeded to apologise, asked me to come into the shop. When I did, he then told me they could not help me as it was past the store policy dates. Why could he not have checked facts or dates before making me waste my time and gas promising me he can make it right? The GM sold me a wrong game and as it's a DarkSouls game, it took me some time to finish. He refused to make HIS personal mistake right. How can someone with such little attention to detail and little customer service rise to the GM position? I would not recommend this store under the current management to anyone. Hot garbage.
Edit: after looking through more recent reviews, this is not an isolated incident. Multiple people have been swindled by purchasing an incorrect game. With the rise in online services for gaming taking a toll on physical locations, you would think that they would do the absolute bare minimum of fixing their own mistakes. Clientele will continue to dwindle into oblivion without their customer service standards being raised...
Read moreThis store just sucks. The employees there act like they don't care about their customers. I've bought mortal combat Armageddon and it had many scratches when I opened it, so it's obvious that they don't refurbish their discs. Another thing, I just bought a ps3 controller which had a bad battery, meaning it had to stay plugged into the ps3 in order to work. And then when I returned it today the guy tried to argue with me over the battery of the controller, and the other guy told him to give me store credit because it wasn't worth the argument. Then as I'm shopping to redeem my store credit, I hear the guy tell the other guy to put the controller back on display because there was nothing wrong with it. I spent $37 on that controller, when I could've ordered a new one that works perfectly from ebay for $25. And they have a poor selection of games, it's mainly multiple copies of sport games. I will not be coming back to this location, I will now on take my money to the...
