I've always been a loyal customer until Friday afternoon, April 5th, 2024. My friend and I walked into A1 expecting the same level of service as usual, but this time, when I tried to ask some questions, I was accused of being underage. While I understand that I may look young, the abrupt and rude manner in which the employee interrupted me, switching tones mid-conversation to demand to see my ID, was unacceptable and not the service I had come to expect.
I made it clear that I was not finished with my inquiries, yet the employee dismissively replied, "I know," indicating awareness of their own rudeness. If there were suspicions about my age, a polite request for identification would have been more appropriate.
Later, my friend was yelled at by a female employee for simply grabbing a pack of cigarettes. Though we later noticed a "no-crossing" sign, it was my friend's first time there, and there was no need for such a harsh reaction.
When we decided to take our business elsewhere and placed our items on the counter to leave, the same female employee ran after us, accusing us of attempting to steal the cigarettes.
We were the only customers present at the time, and the entire interaction left us severely uncomfortable. I used to recommend this place to friends due to the friendly conversations and occasional freebies, but after this experience, I will not be returning.
The behavior exhibited during our visit was...
Read moreFirst off, the reviews on this establishment are bogus. It’s evident that whoever owns A1 liquor is creating a multitude of accounts to leave positive reviews (since it’s all photos of their merchandise). I walked into this facility one time, as I was nearby, and trust and believe I will not be returning. The staff member working was incredibly sketchy. He asked my boyfriend and I if we could pay cash and I told him that we did not have cash on hand. As we went to pay, I noticed that he was charging $27 for a 12 pack of Scarlett Letters. I then asked him why they were overcharging so much and he wanted to know what we normally pay for them and where at. We attempted to leave and then he said he would search up the price on his phone and essentially that he would match elsewhere. It started taking him a long time to search for the prices and I said we could leave if it would be an issue. He finally said no it’s not issue and corrected the price. He then turned to my boyfriend and said “bro can you please pay cash like for real”. At that point we left. A1 is sketchy, they overcharge immensely, and attempt to pressure customers into paying cash. Someone should investigate them. Over charging and being aggressive regarding cash payments raises red flags concerning fraud and...
Read moreDude working the counter was sketchy as hell and tried to steal the $50 bill I laid on the counter. He kept trying to gaslight me saying maybe I dropped it. I looked down on the floor like he kept insisting I do after I told him that no, I placed it right on the counter and all the sudden he’s magically sliding a $50 bill from under the register!!
This was after he kept making really weird small talk over and over and each time I tried to insinuate I wanted to just pay and leave he’d start a new conversation. I feel like he was trying to distract me hoping I’d forgot about the cash.
I was getting a little annoyed so I put my card in the slot and he starts talking even more like “Oh do you know Ashley” and I’m like “……Do we share a last name or something?” And he goes oh no she just comes here and buys this same pack of drinks.
Like what???? There’s definitely something weird about this place or maybe it’s just the guy running the counter. I also noticed half the shelves didn’t have pricing. I paid $86 for liquor I usually get for around $60 and he didn’t provide a receipt so I have no idea what I overpaid for. This place...
