I went to Lucia and discussed at length what kind of leather I wanted (and did not want) for my sofa. I paid a $700 down payment on the spot. She ordered the leather that I wanted and invited me to her home to examine it. I loved it and took a sample home. Later, she contacted me and said the leather was not want I wanted (although it was) and said she was exchanging it for something comparable. When I picked up the cushions, they appeared different but close enough under the dark lights of her shop, and I paid the remaining $1000+. When I got home and unwrapped the cushions, I realized that they were not at all the same leather that I wanted, and were an example of what I said I did not want.
When I contacted Lucia about my dissatisfaction, she dismissed me, and told me to find another upholsterer to correct it. Then her husband contacted me and accused me of being a “bully”, a misogynist and a racist (which is absurd and baseless). I was professional and polite in every exchange. Lucia was wonderful to work with. She responded to my message quicky, sent a very reasonable bid almost immediately, and came to pick the piece up at our home. She offered great design advice, and was in communication throughout the process. The invoice/payment part was very easy. And MOST importantly, the work that she put into a very important chair for my family was impeccable. She recovered a 100yr old leather chair with care, even fixing a broken part that had been broken for 40 years. I would trust Lucia with any of my future upholstery needs.
