This place is an absolute nightmare.
TLDR; bad customer service; shady business practice; unclean vehicles
Pics are AFTER I paid to have the car detailed and stains removed from the seats to help the smell.
My first red flag was as I was walking up to enter, police were pulling up. A girl was returning her 7 day rental and had some back and forth with them. I don’t know the details because I mind my business but in waiting for the police to be done speaking with the manager- she showed me videos on her phone of the car infested with cockroaches and the car not accelerating past about 50 miles. I started to look at my options to cancel at that point but rebooking that same day was 4 times the amount and I needed to leave that night. So I continued with hopes she was a one off. Then came the second red flag- 2 other customers were helped who arrived after me. I was literally standing at the front of the line. The man just took them since they were at the back of the line and closer to him. 3rd red flag-Booked through Expedia with “unlimited mileage” upon arrival I learned that as a resident of FL that I have to pay for it. $88 for 5 days. To me- that’s a bit of a bait and switch but again I didn’t have much option at that point. Then came the tolls— the “manager” was very confrontational about me not accepting their $14 a day toll. I explained I have a transponder that I’ll be using. I rented a car a month ago from Hertz and had no issues with tolls. He continued to loudly argue with me that “that’s not how it works” it’s toll by plate and the plates are registered to the business so they get billed. I explained to him that’s not how it works if it bills the transponder first. Also- fyi with sun pass you can add a rental car plate temporarily to your account. But as I learned from sun pass directly - these small company’s are the exception. You can not add their plates but you can still bring your transponder. In the event the booth is being updated or fails to read the transponder it will take a photo of the plate and will bill the registered company. Don’t let them BULLY you into their ABSURD & PROVEN FALSE upsell. 4th red flag- I get the car, and after experiencing the sketchy service and aggressive nickel and diming- I’m VERY detailed in looking over the vehicle. Lots of scratches and dings but nothing major. I open the car to check for bugs because that’s a massive no for me. The car is dirty inside and out. A TON of stains on every seat. There was a pungent smell when opening the door but thought maybe it would dissipate once air is circulating. The one and only pro this company has- This is the car I booked and the car size I expected. We finish up and I leave. After being in the car for about 2 min the smell just became so overwhelming. I had to put the windows down. Before I packed up the car and got on the road I called my regular car detail guy to come help with the smell. A mix of body odor, cigarettes, with a fruity aroma spritzed around in an attempt to mask it. He said it’s likely from the stains/seats and worked to remove and refresh those spots. It was powerful. Thankfully my kids are in car seats and didn’t have to directly sit on those. I brought febreeze heavy duty with us to spray throughout the trip. By about day 4- and after traveling with the windows down as much as possible the smell started to regulate. Another cost to detail a car that should have already been cleaned. Noticed the 2 front tires were also starting to wear down. So far no additional charges have shown on my account but I’ll be monitoring over the next 30 days because the vibe I got was not confident that the transaction was final.
I got a good life lesson and I hope you read this and hear the warning— this is the spirit airlines of...
Read moreI only ever leave reviews when I’m extraordinarily pleased or extremely upset (like most). This is the later of the 2. First, the website. I was very upset to find out that cancellations and full refunds can only be done if cancelled more than 24hrs in advance. Otherwise they keep your money and offer a credit for up to a year I believe. Understandable, but say that! Right where it says full refund…. But I get it, sales tactic! Second, I’m not sure why there’s only 1 manager that can apply that credit to a new reservation. So if the manager is unavailable or on vacation I suppose you just have to wait for them to get back to handle your request. Which I did! For over an hour at the rental location, but on the bright side the manager wasn’t on vacation or I’d still be waiting. Third, the call center agents are very laxed and straight to the point which I can appreciate because I rather not make small talk but 1 in particular, so straight forward and ready to provide so much valuable information that she failed to listen to my issue at hand. All while cutting me off from talking and telling me I wasn’t listening 3 times as I tried to explain to her my issue! As a teaching point, agents should listen to be of assistance rather than listening to respond. It would save a lot of back and forth and maybe there won’t be 15 people on hold (which is less than other call centers but still) waiting to get through. Talking to people isn’t easy but listening is easier! All in all she did apologize after. Fourth, Easirent prices are unbeatable, however, you get what you pay for. Out of over 10 cars I’ve rented maybe more only 2 or 3 have been decent! I have a list of issues with the cars I have been given and cleanliness being the most important for me. If the outside is banged up okay, just make sure you know I didn’t do that, im only driving to work, I could care less. But the inside needs to be cleaned at least and majority are super dirty. I’m talking food still left, ant infested (thank god just ants for me), foul odors like throw up, smoking smells, stained seats, just dirty! I don’t know if it’s because I’m reserving the least expensive vehicle but I haven’t had much luck with getting nice cars often. Fifth, if you’re a resident of the state you DO NOT get unlimited mileage. I found that out while checking in and seeing a sign posted on the door after my uber already dropped me off. To the websites defense, that was listed somewhere, I had to search for it but not where “unlimited mileage” was promoted. You have to pay extra of course for anything over the limit. Outside of that Check in, check out process is pretty easy. Payment options are flexible. Though it seems everyone is on different pages when it comes to what’s required at pick up as far as paperwork. I enjoy saving my coins and getting a deal but today just did not do it for me and the only reason I’m leaving this review is because management was not available to take my call. I got transferred, no one picked up, and the call ended. I called back and the agent told me the manager was in Fort Lauderdale. Also, the actual rental location and the call center are 2 separate entities, though there was a manager… actually there wasn’t a manager on duty at the location but typically there is, they could not assist because it was a “corporate thing”, you know how that goes....
Read moreWorst rental company ever you can reserve a car months in advance they will not have it they will downsize your vehicle with no adjustment to the rate but if you book a regular vehicle and it’s not there they want you to pay to upgrade or wait hours till one comes in!
The manager there doesn’t care about customers or his staff his excuse is always they can’t do nothing here call customer services or it’s because or rates are low.
