We made our flight, hotel and car rental through a name brand platform. We had to wait for the NU Car Rental shuttle to pick us up from the airport. The driver just started tossing luggage into the back of the van while we all took our seats. Some of the seats in the van looked like they were wet so I had to be extra picky when trying to sit down in case thy were wet. There was trash in the van from previous customers, which was gross. Once we arrived at the NU Car Rental lot, the driver once again just started tossing out luggage to get everyone out so he can take the next group back to the airport. We were not able to speak to a physical person in the building upon arrival to the NU Car Rental lot, but instead were guided to these small 'telephone booths' that had a person on the other side of the screen to do all the checking in process. This process did not feel right and it felt like a scam. We had a terrible time understanding the person assisting us due to the consistent cutting in and out of audio and his accent. He could not repeat back our information correctly at all to confirm our information. We had to keep correcting our phone number on file with him over six times!
We thought we were paid in full for our car rental. But we found out we had to pay over $600 more for their insurance coverage before taking the car off the lot! We were forced to purchase their higher insurance plan, since they stated the lower insurance plan would not cover any incidentals (Then why do you even offer it?!), even though we have our own full coverage insurance plans through State Farm. They informed our insurance coverage through State Farm was useless and would not cover any incidentals in case any accident were to occur.
The Toyota car we received had a lot of scratches, chipped paint and a wheel well that was torn/detached from the car. We tried to take as many pictures as the app would let us and I also put a lot of notes of the damage of the car so we would not be faulted upon returning the rental. I strongly dislike companies needing you to download more and more apps on your cell phone to even complete your transactions. The car windshield was foggy/dirty, windshield wipers did not work efficiently at all during the heavy rains, the tire gauge was wonky and kept insisting one tire was having issues at the 35 psi, but the other tires at the same psi were fine, each tire on the car was a different brand, and we had a reoccurring pop up informing that the car needed maintenance. We had the economy version, which was horrible to drive since it kept jerking as it was adjusting its own system. We were traveling to different beaches around the southern Florida area and we didn't purchase the option to take the toll road routs in our contract. When we called to see if we could purchase a one day pass for the toll roads, we were informed we would need to pay for the full week of the car which would have been an additional $15 and change per day costing us over $120 dollars. We opted not to and decided to change our plans for visiting some beaches in the area. Also make sure that you do not get any tickets or citations as those will cause extra fees to your contract! We did not receive any tickets or citations, but when they told us how much the fees were in case we did was outrageous. We made sure to always use the cruise control and watched out for mph signs to be extra cautious. I do not and will not ever recommend NU Car Rental to anyone.
We will make sure to locate a better name brand car rental if we travel...

FLL airport location is not on site, requires a shuttle that they say runs form 8 am - 12 am. We waited for nearly 45 minutes, no one answering the phones and no updates. Our reservation was prepaid and booked months in advance. Contract signed. Once we arrived, there were two agents to serve approx 25 people. They have a virtual agent option, which we used. We were told that in order to get the keys, there was a "Loss of Rental Business" fee that had to be paid. This fee is calculated per day of rental agreement, for us it was 175 USD to cover loss in NU's ability to rent the car if it were to be accidented under our care. This was not a hold, this was not refundable. This was in addition to a 250 USD hold on a credit card for damages. There was no options, no reason, and our insurance as valid and covered all. There were no opt out options. Agent said we pay, or cancel our reservation for a full refund. We knew we signed a non refundable contract, and were concerned we were being lied to. As we are dealing with this, we realized every individual was being told the same thing by the live agents as well. I spoke with 5 people, 3 were charged the same fee at 250 USD and 2 and 400 USD. At this point, all of us had been waiting for the shuttle as well as waiting for the clerk nearly 2 hours past our scheduled pick up time. Many clients were tourists, and have no choice to pay the fee. We contacted the agency we booked through and they confirmed there is no such fee in our contract or the compagny's fine print. An official investigation was launched. Hopefully they can be removed from any third party booking sites and online promotions. Please note, they operate under a second compagny called "zezgo" - they share a shuttle,...
Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars I would! The entire company is ridiculous. I booked my reservation for a family of 6 through Priceline.com. I have been a VIP member with Priceline since 2019 and have always trusted the company's they partner with. When we arrived at the airport, the shuttle service is awful. They shove as many people as they can fit in the vehicle unsafely. I actually got into a verbal altercation with another rider because she wanted to shove my family of 6 all in one row to make room for her party of 5 and the driver did not engage whatsoever. Once we arrived we witnessed another verbal and physical altercation between a staff member and a patron who was disgruntled and trying to cancel her services. As we went to check in ourselves, we were told of additional fees we would have to pay, no problem just wanted to get out of there for the safety of our children. At the last minute we were told they did not have the vehicle we rented available nor any other models similar. They wanted to put us in a 5 person car or have us pay an upcharge for a larger vehicle. When we requested they cancel our reservation they informed us they could do nothing about it. Now I've been in contact with Priceline and they won't give me a refund until they can confirm with the company that I did not receive my vehicle. HOWEVER, Priceline has informed me that the numbers they have listed for their business are flagged and do not work. I am now currently having to rent a new vehicle through an entire different company and wait for priceline to receive email confirmation that I did not receive my vehicle from them. The entire place is awful, stuff is uncaring and very much not helpful. I would NEVER recommend anyone to use...
