I have shopped here several times in the past and have always been treated with respect. I have told many people about the exceptional No. 6 head cleaner that is sold there. However, today was totally different. I stopped by the shop around 1p today, 27 Jun 25. There appeared to be only one employee working at this time. Before I could get in the shop, he was already asking if he could help me with anything. I told him that I wanted to browse before making a purchase. I was riding my bicycle so I had a backpack. I didn't notice any signs regarding carrying backpacks in the store. Perhaps I overlooked them. If signs are there, then I don't have any problems leaving my backpack at the checkout counter. I was the only other person in the shop besides the employee. I'm sorry that I didn't get his name and I can only describe him as a middle aged white guy with a beard, medium build. As I browsed, he approached me and wanted my backpack so he could place it behind the counter. I agree; but this just didn't sit well with me. I believe that he was profiling me as an African American man. I was interested in making a purchase but this interaction and his microaggression towards me caused me to decide not to spend my money there and condone this behavior. Perhaps this will make him think twice about this type of behavior in the future and consider the type of impression...
Read moreI have been traveling to Fort Lauderdale for YEARS and ALWAYS stop at LeatherWerks when I am in town. I am always found their selection of top quality apparel and items to be second to none and the staff has always been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This past Xmas/New Years trip was no exception as I brought my new BF with me and wanted to outfit him with some gear. We are fairly new to the leather scene and are exploring what works for us. On this particular day I wanted to get my BF a new harness and some accessories. Our salesman (wish I could remember his name) was a GREAT help! I'm sure he would remember us. I was the skinny guy with the HOT bald, bearded muscle tattooed daddy in tow. He was MORE than willing to show us all the harness options and even outfitted my Daddy with his "personal" touch. Talk about erotic getting to stand there while he undressed my Daddy and gave him a personal fitting from head to toe! HOT HOT HOT! We walked away with a GREAT bulldog harness with removable suspender options that frame out his mid section nicely. Also got a nice Cellblock 13 jock and some toys. LeatherWerks will ALWAYS be my go-to place when I am in town!! Thanks for...
Read moreI absolutely love this store. Their employees are great. However I donât like that they donât empower their employees to make common sense decisions on refunds. I purchased an item, around $200., and when I got it home realized I already had one. Dumb mistake on my part, I know. I never opened my purchase and kept the bag and receipt all intact, exactly as it was given to me. When I tried to return it, they wouldnât even look at the item. âNo exceptionsâ I was told. The employee even got a little emotional saying he could lose his job. I would never want that to happen and I relented.
My point is that I would much rather shop local, even if itâs more expensive because these folks do a great job, and I want these businesses to thrive. But to not empower your folks to make a common sense decision in this case is not good. I would have never even considered a return if the package was even torn much less used. I will now sell this on eBay probably taking a hit when they could have sold it as new.
Small businesses that donât go above and beyond to take care of their customers will risk losing to online...
